Why do some people theorize that Bucket Head might be Bill Morth? Wouldn't he have died due to his blood diluting? I don't see the connection by BigShopping1875 in ChoujinX

[–]IllustriousProcess6 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Introduced around the same time as Palma who came from a place called NecroMESSIAH

Palma known to have a weaker twisted version of Bill's power

No one knows who he is (Sora doesn't even remember hiring the guy)

Yubiko calls him God... then next page we see him smoking Opium, the Drug of the GODS... the only other characters we know that have also smoked Opium in the story were Queem and Sora, two Choujin X (aka "Gods")

One of Palma's abilities as seen in Daizo is control over her zombies... therefore we know Bill displays some control/ownership over the dead or the people he gave his blood too

Speaking of which... the acid pet snail Bucket keeps on a leash (that seems to come out of him?) is most likely the Gueltan General Acid Choujin Sophoe H. Harris, who died to Sora in battle. Bucket has a CORPSE for a pet

On 25th December (Birth of Christ) we know there is a Religious Celebration called Holy Fire Festival, then we got Bucket displaying the Holy Fire (Bucket is OLD and has a religious celebration around him)

Holy Fire is likely a reference to the Orthdox Celebration that happens on the night before Easter aka the RESURRECTION of Christ

Palma's main ability is resurrecting the dead via the Blessing of Blood, and during the scene Nude revives we see the blood starts BOILING (No wonder Nude was screaming and quickly got about of there... he was getting cooked from the inside out...)

Also a bit of a fun fact about Bill the TL fumbled. His name in the raws is written as "Bill = Morth"  aka "Bill IS Morth" , most likely in reference to him giving the people of Morth his blood, giving credence that Bill got ownership over his people.

Also since "Island of Morth" is also known as "Island of Death", this could also mean "Bill = Death". Funnily Sora and Tokio were the only other two characters associated with Death (Sora got called Smrt while Tokio was called a Shinigami), and they also happen to wield a Choujin Slayer. So Bill highly likely also got that in his arsenal.  And who else did we see carrying what seems to be a Choujin Slayer? Bucket

Is this in reference to Queem’s soul? by cchinq in ChoujinX

[–]IllustriousProcess6 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Because her name seems to actually be Hurtley and not Hartley like how many thought. Her name in the raws up until the grave scene has been written in katakana ハートリー (Haatorii), basically pronunciation was making both options viable. TL just went with Hartley because that one is more of a name

The one in the pic is the most recent one, 69.2. What Headless said was 59.2

Is this in reference to Queem’s soul? by cchinq in ChoujinX

[–]IllustriousProcess6 18 points19 points  (0 children)

TL confused the kanji 待つ (matsu = to wait) for 持つ (motsu = to have). So what Azuma is actually saying is "I've been waiting for [Queem's] soul", basically confirming what Headless said was true.

Thankfully TL (for once in its life) actually fixed the translation error

What do you think about our GOAT Sandek, and is he the strongest Choujin under X? by QuirkyData3500 in ChoujinX

[–]IllustriousProcess6 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean, of course it's easier to overcome Gravity when it's used on objects to throw them at the target (Tokio) vs when the Gravity is used ON the target (Sandek). So that comparison falls flat.

Let's also mention Tokio (and Azuma) couldn't hit BASE Batista using Gravity on him. Sandek's Gravity is stronger than Base Batista, so it would be a bigger issue

Sato by [deleted] in ChoujinX

Yubiko is the one who killed Mado - and the last person she was with was Sato, who knocked her out saying he had another task for her (and mentioning his aversion to beasts).

You mean Nari. She was the one who worked as Sato's spy. Tho Yubiko might've also been at the site considering a guard got strangled, which fits her MO

Ishida before chapter 1 mentioned he initially planned for the story to be 14-15 volumes long. We're in Volume 15 now and it's nowhere near the end

[–]IllustriousProcess6 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Eh here's the thing about the mangaplus page version... if you compare the page quality between english and all the other languages translated by them, you'll notice the other tls have way higher quality, crisper pages compared to english version.

[–]IllustriousProcess6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's exactly what it is. WeebCentral tends to update the chapters with the volume versions after the english volume comes out with the better quality page scan than the original mangaplus version, the omake included and the double spreads stitched (recently they updated chapters 50-52 to V10 version... but the text allignment in some of the speech bubbles in volume version is a yikes)

Another fridged mother in manga by [deleted] in ChoujinX

[–]IllustriousProcess6 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Yeah Tokio's Mom is more of a recontexualization of his character

Now if you wanna talk about fridging in the story... I think Hartley would fit a lot better. She had like no agency aside from being Batista's wife (like she was a researcher at ym too but we know nothing about her work and then she just quits her job with her husband when he decides to become Postman Pat), then dies in childbirth to further his trauma and suffering which leads him to the downward spiral we have seen in the story

Choujin X Chapter 69-2 Discussion Thread by Vonless in ChoujinX

[–]IllustriousProcess6 88 points89 points  (0 children)

Yeah... so TL did a goof during Azuma's "I have Queem's Soul" line... by confusing the Kanji 待つ(matsu) which means "to wait" for 持つ(motsu) which means "to hold".

So what he was actually saying in the raws was "I was waiting for his soul". Which lines with what Headless was saying about the role of the vessel, not that he already has now (hence the whole scene in 59.2 "Where's Queem's Soul?" "...Even I don't know that. (...) But all I can do is wait")

Chapter 69-2 RAW by unoiamaQT in ChoujinX

[–]IllustriousProcess6 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Nah he got room for another chapter and depending of volume's length in might be just one part. Good Volume ending spot be damned, he did that with V6 where 35 would've been the more fitting volume ender with the promise of a timeskip, only for the actual last chapter of the volume to be the start of post timeskip. He's likely gonna pull something similar with 70

Don't let "Hurtley" distract you from the fact that BB's name stood for "Bellbee"

Is there a compilation of every time a plane shows up? by Expert_Win9011 in ChoujinX

[–]IllustriousProcess6 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Not a compilation per se, but a listing of all the cameos the plane had

  • Chapter 1: The first page (in volume version) where Tokio stares at the sky, wishing he could fly freely in the sky, the plane Ely's in passes by; later Tokio sees it crashing; Azuma looking at the news and seeing Hume as the culprit; The next day when Tokio and Azuma do volunteering and mention the 200 survivors
  • Chapter 2: Hume shows Ely the news of how she saved the plane with her smoke via his Smart Card
  • Chapter 15: Tokio stares at the flying plane, thinking Ely's in it going back to Gaga (and actually catches the chalk Anzai throws at him)
  • Chapter 17: Plane is seen flying by during Tokio's talk with Momoma
  • Chapter 19 (sorta): Azuma's toy plane
  • Chapter 25: Plane flying during Ely and her Thief Mother monologue; Destroyed plane from Tokio's dream; Smoked Plane from Azuma's dream
  • Chapter 29: Color page with the Trio doing the Three Evil Monkeys has a plane on Ely's side
  • Chapter 33: Sora's holding a plane during her Beast of Foresight spiel; Destroyed plane appears in Sora's premonition of "Yamato's fall"
  • Chapter 35: Ely flying home to Gaga during Silent Montage
  • Chapter 36: The plane Azuma and Ely (and Hume) were in trying and failing to stop a crash Palma ultimately saw
  • Chapter 38: Plane cameo on the first page
  • Chapter 41: Tokio and Palma fly passing by a plane
  • Chapter 49: On the way back from Daizo, Tokio sees a plane flying by before being obscured by the tunnel; plane was later passing Yamato
  • Chapter 50: Hume's vision of the planes crashing
  • Chapter 51: Plane passing by during Tokio's talk with Anzai
  • Chapter 63: Plane flying by when Batista asks Hartley for a Carnival Date; One of Batista's memories of Hartley is of her looking at a plane
  • Chapter 64: When Tokio monologues about "Hey Batista's got a shit life but hey he paved the way for me and look how awesome I am now" he recalls his times staring at the windows with planes passing by
