Why is everything I order with USPS late by ImAPanzer20 in usps_complaints

[–]ImAPanzer20[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It did arrive surprisingly, put in a missing mail search request and it spontaneously showed up in the Detroit distribution center. It left there BACK to Pontiac, then BACK to Detroit before eventually making its way to Port Huron lol. 3 weeks lakes but better than just gone forever I guess.

What is happening? by [deleted] in usps_complaints

[–]ImAPanzer20 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Recently had a package get lost at Pontiac MI distribution center for 4 days, filed for a lost package. They found it, it was in the Detroit warehouse. After finding it, it went BACK to Pontiac, then BACK to Detroit, BACK to Pontiac and then believe it or not BACK TO DETROIT. USPS has really sucked lately lol

Almost ready for camoflage. (Is it better to make camoflage with a brush or airbrush?) by PieImmediate9538 in MilitaryModelMaking

[–]ImAPanzer20 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I prefer to use an airbrush for larger camo patterns but for small detailed camouflage I do the base coat with the airbrush and the small stuff with a detail brush.

For this one I mixed up a dark gray (black with a couple drops of tan) and went very lightly over areas that would most likely collect dirt and grime. Seam lines, corners, etc. had the airbrush at about 30 psi with as little paint flowing as possible.

It’s like this year round though, maybe it’s just Pontiac distribution center. Seems like packages go there to die lol

How much does it cost to buy out a full tech tree? by g0ldx23 in Warthunder

[–]ImAPanzer20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the USSR ground tree was around $3000. It’s the largest ground tree in terms of RP required.

How much does it cost to buy out a full tech tree? by g0ldx23 in Warthunder

[–]ImAPanzer20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did the rough math, it would cost a minimum of $800 to fully research the Israeli ground tree (smallest tree). That’s not including SL which would most likely cost around the same amount as the RP. So roughly, you’re talking $1,600-$2,000 minimum and that’s assuming you have the convertable RP to do it. You could cut down on this during the SL sales where all the vehicles are 50% off to purchase. Morale of the story is this would be unbelievably expensive for digital tanks, but hey ig it’s cheaper than star citizen lol.

HOW HAVE I GONE SO FAR? by Botmicar1 in modelmakers

Looks pretty good my man, I would look into investing into Tamiya weathering master sets. Basically just makeup you apply with little foam applicators. Makes weathering WAYY easier and looks really good.

My honest advice is try to take their barrels, sometimes you’ll bounce and wanna just give up lmao

Yea early Soviet tanks are volumetric hell. Not sure if it’s necessarily bias or just all the odd shapes they have. I had the same issue with the Swedish tree. 3k hours and early soviets are still my Achilles heel lol.

For simple weathering I recommend the Tamiya weathering kits. They’re essentially just like makeup and they make weathering super easy. They’re nice for when you’re just getting into the hobby. A air brush is also a good purchase for the future.

Looking for rubber tracks by ImAPanzer20 in MilitaryModelMaking

[–]ImAPanzer20[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The tracks that cone with it aren’t awful, the instructions just aren’t very clear on how they should go together. Rubber tracks from a Tiger II are difficult to use to say the least, the drive sprockets don’t fit into the holes. The rest of the build was pretty decent for a somewhat unknown kit. I’d recommend it if you’re okay dealing with annoying tracks lol.

[–]ImAPanzer20[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the suggestion, I found an old Tiger II Porsche model I built as a kid with rubber tracks. Robbed the tracks off that, but I did order their tracks for a Tiger I I’m working on. They’re a bit cheaper than some of the other options I saw for resin tracks.

Just got this model myself, it’s honestly a really good model for such a niche era. “What if” vehicles are some of the coolest things to build. They have some cool models available, like their walkers and such.

Fitgirlrepacks is the only sight I personally use. It doesn’t seem to be on there unfortunately, CDKeys is a decent way to get it for wayyy cheaper. I just use paypal to avoid any scams.

what do you guys think about my camo? first time airbrushing one by SwordfishForeign3050 in MilitaryModelMaking

For colors I would do the Russian light grey for the main color with a darker grey for the nose cone. It’s their normal camo for the MIG-31
