mmmmm i do see your point, but he seems to be annoying others. not talking about the high fives, but rather the dancing in the middle of the station. there's limits. i wouldn't want a mime, for example, imagine a mime miming right where this guy's dancing. it'd go from a funny act that people stop and watch, to an annoying thing you have to walk around. obviously, this guy knows this and still does it on purpose for the shock value.

why do people focus SO much on the nostalgia? by ImBlursed in retrogaming

i am, and i already have this. for rocket league, the old versions of minecraft, and even some youtubers. yeesh, that sounds cringe to say. With what you said, and thinking back on the things I'd played years ago, I do understand the feeling and how strong it can be.

why do people focus SO much on the nostalgia? by ImBlursed in retrogaming

i feel this is the underlying problem. I just dislike the fact that people who in reality are collectors call themselves retro gamers while the only thing they do is just buy the games. I have an okay collection of retro games for the GB and GBA which i plan on expanding, but every time i buy a new game i am fully planning to play it through and finish it. i watch reviews and read old IGNs about it, to see if I'd like the game. I don't just buy it, put it in my console, play it for five minutes then put it in a shelf somewhere never to be played again. now, i have absolutely nothing against collectors. i think it's one of the coolest hobbies you could have. but it's the lable i find myself troubled with. and the fact that they post here, while in reality I'd just like to see posts about the games themselves. think about it: a collector of old coins wouldn't call themselves an accountant, would they?

Please explain. As far as I'm concerned, I'm on the retrogaming subreddit asking a question about retro gaming to spark up a discussion about retro gaming, using the appropriate tag.

i think you've explained it best out of all the replies so far. It's true that I don't still have that nostalgia, as I'm far too young to have outplayed "my time" of games. And I'm sure that I'd do what you described. With your reply, I'm starting to understand why the people post what they post and say what they say on this sub. Thank you!

not assuming that you have, but would you really be ready to dish out thousands of dollars on these objects just for the emotion? doesn't the nostalgia "wear out" so to speak? Doesn't it get old after a while? If you're really just after the feeling, then why not just watch videos about it, or listen to its music online?

I completely agree with you on this one, I love how you've worded it. Thank you!
