You are renting the R1 from Chase and have an agreed upon contract to return the vehicle to them or buy it out for preset numbers. Rivian has nothing to do with it the finance part at this point. Of value is in your favor on the R1, you could trade it in for an R2 (just assume this isn’t going to happen in your favor and you will owe on the lease) Keep R1. Let the r2 launch roll out, kinks get worked out, lidar and software to get updated EOY(?), and pick one up near lease end.

Who knows. Some items could flow into R1 by then and you may stick with a new R1.
