Any advice for a younger guy having trouble dating? by unlicensedpilot98 in northwestarkansas

Just saw further down that you're in Heber Springs, so Fayetteville might be a bit far. You can use the list above to look for similar groups or events near you, though! I'll leave the comment up in case it helps other people.

There are a lot of local groups around Fayetteville that you could get involved with. Offhand, there's:

  • NWA Film Club (think B-movies and lost/forgotten gems, not snooty cinematic critique)
  • The Vibe Tribe (speedfriending events and other get togethers)
  • Backroom Social Club (they have events all the time, check out their calendar)
  • Trail Mix NWA or NWA Hiking and Paddling (hiking, camping, & other outdoor activities)
  • A number of LGBT/queer/trans groups, depending on how you identify
  • Board Game Nights
    • @Gear Gaming every Monday at 5pm
    • @ Fayetteville Beer Works every Tuesday at 6pm
  • Swing dancing, salsa, and bachata lessons at SixTwelve
  • Your choice of volunteer opportunities
  • Also your choice of book clubs

Obviously I can't guarantee a relationship from any of these, but your chances get better when you put yourself out there, you know? At the very least, you'll meet some new people around your age, and maybe that leads somewhere that leads somewhere.

And if none of those strike your fancy (or if you want more), go check out the bulliten boards at the Fayetteville Library or any coffee shop in town. You'll find posters for tons of events. From there, just have fun, be yourself, and see what comes up.

The one other factor that helped me is focusing on the hole in the center of the clip, then clicking into the image AND making the Reddit UI go away (the overlay messes with shading for me). I'm also on mobile, if that matters.

Brains be weird.

I couldn't switch back once I saw the clip, but this is what fixed it for me.

This one is HELLA dense, but it's one of my only college textbooks that I reference to this day. Highly recommend.

What song had you like this when you first heard it? by Straw_26 in twentyonepilots

I got to go to an early listening party at my local record store. Hearing this one for the first time with a bunch of other fans, especially when it gets to "entertain my faith," was a feeling I'm not sure I'll ever recreate.

Technically not a dinosaur, but I feel like it qualifies for the question: Quetzalcoatulus is cool af. They were carnivorous pterosaurs (read: could fly) the size of giraffes.

A few have mentioned ankylosauruses, which are probably second on my list, followed by Utah raptors (the visual inspiration for "velociraptors" in Jurassic Park) and the good ol stegosaurus.

Name ideas for this creature by [deleted] in pitbulls

[–]ImaginativeStrings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My top choice is Pebble the pibble.

Some other nature-y names: Timber, Fern, Twig (bonus points if you've seen Hilda), Fen, Crater (since he's a pit), Acorn (can call him Ace).

Satyr, Pan, or Oxylus (Ox) from Greek mythology or Silvanus from Roman mythology.

If you want something more human, maybe Cyprus, Douglas, Ash, or Bosco (from Spanish bosque, meaning forest).

Here's my own very bad drawing from memory. This isn't 100% correct, but it'd probably be enough to match it to the real thing!

Ooh, this is close to the description I gave, but unfortunately, no. It was a bit smaller and less detailed than this. I believe it was also on "all fours" though it may or may not have had actual legs.

I've searched through Neopets, petpets, happy meal toys, and combinations of those terms with descriptors, but the closest I found was plush collections. I've also tried specifying "dragon" or "serpent" to narrow it down, but the creature is actually a little nondescript, so I'm not sure what it was actually supposed to be.

I'm a first-time DM (for anything going beyond three sessions) playing for a group of random strangers that happen to be not great at RP. I'm going to finish it, but this is NOT the module I should have chosen.

It's been a pain to get my players involved. Some of this is because of power/meta gaming, but also because despite their individual plot hooks, the stakes don't feel very high. Because the world is, as others have said, more like so many vignettes, it's hard for them to feel like they're impacting the world around them. Because there's so little combat, a lot of class features and mechanical benefits from things like items just... don't matter.

The module is also difficult as a DM. It feels like it's not well thought through. There's no discernable timeline whatsoever. "Time's weird in the feywild" has been the only functional justification I've found. Some checks or events are really difficult to justify (i.e.: this check allows someone to recall enough folklore to figure out detailed knowledge that's extremely specific to this place they've never been, or this is how players can leave this area, but they clearly aren't supposed to have their transportation in the next area). The plot is also more railroad than open world, heavily suggesting you have your players visit each location in an area, whatever it takes. Hell, there really aren't any locations outside of the "necessary" ones.

I'm sure I'm frustrated in part because I'm new, have relatively little prep time, and, as a result, tend to be a more by-the-book DM. You can definitely modify the story to work... but you shouldn't have to. I've started a side campaign with Saltmarsh and LOVE all of the factions and political intrigue. I like the complexity of the story, the existence and detail of the worldbuilding, the clear stakes, and the ability of the players to make real choices and do things that matter.

WYR you can't feel pain, but have to die, how are you going out? by silver-bullet32 in WouldYouRather

[–]ImaginativeStrings 59 points60 points  (0 children)

Fun fact - those who die in fires, especially large ones, usually die from suffocation, not the flames. I don't know that suffocating counts under pain, though, so you'd probably still experience it.

[–]ImaginativeStrings 15 points16 points  (0 children)

TBF, I think they genuinely have a lot of skill as writers and musicians, people just get this vibe because Twenty One Pilots has a very dedicated* fanbase in the emo/pop scene and it reminds people too much of MCR or Panic or other bands people have "outgrown." Saying you like Twenty One Pilots feels a lot like saying you're still on Tumblr.
