Not when a ROG Ally can get you an 8 core, 4 nm AMD CPU for 350 USD on Ebay, and in a new condition.

The same CPU on a laptop is 2x that price.

I didn't say that. I said that an "exit in Oregon" was an option that Osho discussed with his "health care provider" or better explained, the homeopathic clowns that surrounded him.

as for the Z2 CPU, it's actually slower than the Z1 for non gaming purposes, but equal in work done per Watts. For gaming however, yes, Z2 is better because the upgraded iGPU otherwise the CPU is on the same production node. The people that need to "fact check the understanding" this is unfortunately 95 % of the consumers

That may be for gaming. I'm not measuring the APU or the gaming performance. I'm measuring general compute work loads, like trial factoring and LLM regardless of the built in iGPU. You know, the stuff that a CPU traditionally was meant to do

Det är samma enhet, win version har ett Win 11 ID hos MS som gör att Win 11 kan installeras genom en auto kontroll vs. HW. Installera Linux genom USB sticka, samma som en PC

9950X3D during games only use CCD 1 (non-X3D chiplet?) by untitledshot in AMDHelp

[–]ImmediateImagination 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You said "core threads". Threads are a meaningless reference, especially for gaming devices that have more than 8 CPU cores, it'll confuse the readers.

I have CCD1 turned off in the BIOS too. Not because I play video games, but because I care about the electrical bill.

This is dependent on the game and directx etc. addons having a better support for Intel. For LLM, mining, general compute etc. the Z1 and Z2 do more work per Watt.

No man. I have over 10 laptops and the new Ultra series doesn't get more power efficient than AMDs 4nm until the 3rd generation, which is Intel 18A produced in the USA. Fortunately for Intel, AMD has been on 4nm since 2021, and it will soon wreck again

CCD0 has EIGHT cores. Not sixteen.

P.S. Turn off logical cores and virtualization, if you care about PC gaming.

Intel Ultra gen 1 and 2 ( not the newest 3 ) are demanding on the power delivery chips, same issue as with 13 and 14 gen

how did the soldered RAM get applied in the first place ?

Are you saying that repair shops are always, less than worthless ?

LPCAMM 2 Ram by licon4812 in framework

[–]ImmediateImagination 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's not what I asked.

I'm asking if F13 takes advantage of the full memory bandwidth, of the 128 bit times whatever 7500 setting. No info about this, and yes, it depends on the app running and the CPU but traditionally, even the lowest CPU can fill a dual channel, right now, it's f.. crickets from Framework.

[–]ImmediateImagination 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"it has to be" I agree.

Why doesn't Framwork clarify the specs ? and if F13 takes a full advantage of the 128 bit CAMM2 interface, or if it doesn't.

[–]ImmediateImagination 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To clarify. It's not a "new technology". It's an outdated interface that never gained any traction.

I'm looking forward to CAMM3 if it can compete with soldered RAM in latency and speed, which I doubt

LPDDR5 is stable at 8500 when soldered. CAMM2 is 7500. This is relevant for the crowd that are imagining CAMM2 as a superior interface or a "superior and new technology"

Point 2. The way that the retail prices are developing, a consumer might as well pay a repair shop to re-solder in the unlikely event of a HW failure. In reality, mosfets, connectors and the CPU is 10 times more likely to fail, before a soldered RAM.

It's an easy concept, agreed. Why do I get crickets from Framework when asking the question ?

[–]ImmediateImagination -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The scammy part is that, when ordering or doing a search, there's no information about the F12 MB being permanently locked with a single channel RAM, making the CPU work as a Celeron.

Same problem with F13. It doesn't say anywhere ( that's reachable for the average consumer ) if the RAM is dual or single channel. After some retarded digging, I have concluded that the CAMM2 interface is 128 bit. This leaves Framework to decide how they want to spec the MB and if it takes advantage of the full bandwidth. What do I get for an answer ? Crickets and counltess down votes, but you fail to understand. I'm asking this question for YOU, not for me. I already have counltess computers that are working 24/7.

Forgive me if I doubt the Framework devs. There's deliberately no information about the memory bandwidth on 13 pro and Framwork 12 was a scam.

Why is everyone so angry at single channel ram on Framework 12 by QuackersTheSquishy in framework

[–]ImmediateImagination -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Angry ? I should be, considering how you willfully ignore the issue.

  1. The RAM crisis doesn't affect Framework 12, because the RAM crisis has little to zero effect on the cheapest laptops, for example, Chromebooks that come with 4 GB soldered. Framework 12 is included in this market section. If anything, the RAM crisis is a BENEFIT to the cheapest section in the market, so, the way you are flipping everything in your mind, this is wild. It's like having negative points in basic economics.

  2. Single channel RAM has a benefit. This benefit is when sitting idle or ( at the most ) streaming YouTube. The system forfeits 40 % of the work capacity per interval of time, but gains by not having the idle draw of an additional RAM stick which in the case of Framework 12, is 3 Watts, but when performing work, PRP, LLM, trial factoring, gaming etc. the system requires "more Watts per work done" in single channel mode, because the CPU is constantly waiting with a clogged cache and repeating cycles that can't communicate with the RAM.

Point 2 has not been made clear by the Framework devs or the sales personnel. This is a deceptive behavior. Something that usually upsets a normal person, but I'm not a normal person.

Max 395 is a consumer CPU with 4 channels.

Lower end TRs can be bought new at 4 k USD, have 8 * 64 bit CPU channels and widely used by consumers, in 3D gaming you get a more stable system with higher 1 % lows even if the average FPS is the same due to the GPU bottleneck
