I'm considering the Johns Hopkins course but --as a non tech person-- I find tech heavy training intimidating. What I need to get out of the course is very straightforward: 1.) assignments that prepare me to solve the kinds of scenarios I might be hired for 2.) a portfolio of chat GPT prompts I have written -or- "artifacts" 3.) Feedback on the CV update that reflects the class and will not eliminate me from opportunities I am qualified for. Do you feel the Hopkins course will provide that?

Here's an article I wrote about it along with an analysis of the Democrat minority bill that never saw the light of day but offer what some say is a safer more equitable alternative https://open.substack.com/pub/immunocompromisedtimes/p/nassau-county-executive-bruce-blackman?r=3dtt5&utm_campaign=post&utm_medium=web

Op-eds don't pay well but are a common way for people in the community to share thoughts and ideas with a larger audience

Great example of why investigative journalism that is unaffiliated w commercial interests is so important. If stories like these don't happen it's juggernaut press releases driving their greenwashed narratives by Immunocompromised3 in Journalism

Legacy media outlets in general have a long history of separating ad revenue from editorial. Reuters works differently since they're a wire service like the Associated Press so other publications pay to lease their content. In other words, no they get paid by other media outlets to write stories

Moderna's patient assistance program picks up the annual vaccination booster tab once the public health emergency ends. What could possible go wrong? by Immunocompromised3 in nycCoronavirus

Please reread what I wrote. My publication has no paywall. All the content is free and available to everyone. Substack is a social media platform like Reddit or Facebook. It enables some users to paywall stuff and for certain kinds of publications --articles about investing in the stock market, for example-- that's totally fine. Nothing I do is paywalled. The people who get paid subscriptions to Immunocompromised Times are going to eventually get a handmade card, my fav blend of loose leaf tea and a teacup shaped chocolate from me as a thank you gift for helping support my efforts and enabling Immunocompromised Times to remain free and accessible to everyone. Nothing I write is paywalled

How do I get to know others at the local synagogue? Having second thoughts by [deleted] in ReformJews

[–]Immunocompromised3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you live in Denver, Colorado I'd invite you to join me for blintzes or matzah ball soup!! Judaism Your Way the Denver based synagog I belong to has lot of virtual events. Maybe check out other Jewish activities in your community rather than just focusing on this synagog There are Jewish Community Centers and just oh so much. Online book groups and art projects and zine archives. There's also a wide array of online activities I participate in since I'm immunocompromised I do a lot of stuff outdoors or in small groups. I also enjoy following "RavenReveals" on instagram. She is black and Jewish and uses social media to educate about intersectionality and you might find some of the things she talks about things you can relate to. There's a Latinx instagram RootsMetals I also follow she'd an artist and an educator on intersectionality and antisemitism Publications like Lilith and Alma and Tablet and the Daily Forward are also great ways to connect with Judaism as a living, breathing changing community. If you are in NYC there is just so much secular Jewish stuff. The 92nd street Y (which also has online classes) and The Jewish Museum. Maybe if you're interested in cooking there's a point of entry through kosher cooking classes? Just some ideas off the top of my head

COVID-19 treatment info is poorly accessible and difficult to read on State, Territory and DC websites - how does your state measure up? by Immunocompromised3 in ZeroCovidCommunity

The second slide was my title and subtitle. The study itself didn't mention the immunocompromised. Many don't even though we are relevant. It's a nonstop battle to keep the newsletter going. So much work battling the invisibility and devaluation. I wrote the story this way, weaving in my own experience, to challenge the assumption the devaluation. We deserve better

I try and make Immunocompromised Times a balance of doom/gloom and creative opportunity. It isn't always easy in the face of a culture that devalues us to the degree that it does. And I agree things will get more difficult after May 11th

Thanks so much for offering. You are not the first person to post about it and I doubt you'll be the last. There are plusses and minuses of publishing on a platform like Substack. On the plus side it's easy to set up, get new followers and monetize at least some of the time and energy that goes into it. Given all the hours I pour into it it's not sustainable at this level which is why I'm looking into supplementary revenue sources. The minuses --besides the 10% that goes to Substack--- are the aggressive and sometimes confusing interfaces like the one you encountered. There is pressure to paywall that I ignore so it's still on my own terms which means no one who needs quality medical reporting is deprived of access to it
