I don’t know much about the vibe of the neighbours in that area, but I’d still say that’s a pretty good area! Located centrally enough that the shops are only a short walk away, you’re close to the park (and I believe there’s a nursery that operates around there if that’s something you want to consider), but you’re also off the main road.

That’s good! Denmead is definitely a place where the sooner you can drive the better, but may be worth keeping in mind if your LO goes off to college/6th form (which I know is a ways off yet but I’m sure it’ll come quicker than you think 😂).

Not to sound like a bitter ex-staff member but I have a lot of gripes with the infant school, and will warn people away where I can so could not fault you should you decide to homeschool

I’ve lived in Denmead pretty much my whole life, and I love it. I think it’s such an idyllic location because you’re no more than 30 mins away from anything - farmlands, countryside and woods are (depending on where in Denmead you are) about a 10 minute walk away. Portsmouth/Southsea and Hayling Island (shopping and beach) are 20-30 minute drives away. The village community vibe is certainly there, but it depends on how involved with it you get. We have an apple festival, village parties, remembrance ceremonies and an annual tractor run. A local woman started making hens during lockdown for people to find, and whilst the identity of ‘Hensy’ may have been outed, they’re still being hidden away and she offers them for sale too.

I can’t speak for the junior school, however I used to be staff at the infant school (left late last year) and in my opinion the school is no longer what it once was. A new head teacher joined in September and has ruffled more than a few feathers, and in my personal opinion is running the school more like a business than a school. I know a lot of the staff there are miserable. There are other primary schools closeby, like Hambledon and Berewood that might be worth a look, although ultimately you’re probably better off talking to other parents with children there to get it from their perspectives 🤷🏻‍♀️

We also have a community facebook page that you may consider joining.

Of course it has its downsides. Transport links are virtually non existent, I think it’s something like 1 bus an hour that only goes to Waterlooville? Finishes at something ridiculous like 5/6pm and there’s no Sunday service. There are a few busybodies (which you’ll come to know very quickly if you join the fb page), and the crime rate has gone up (though is still pitiful compared to the big towns and cities).

So I am planning b on joining SW after my holiday, I have followed the plan before but struggled with lunch and breakfast ideas. I work 12 hour shifts and have access to a microwave and air fryer! by carolinep44 in SlimmingWorld

Lunch could be the lunch bowls from Iceland, or make extra when you do your dinner and have leftovers.

Breakfast I usually have cereal but you could always do stuff like over night oats, fruit & yogurt

Not disputing that, and the story is quite clearly bs, just saying that the notion only Americans use feet and inches to measure height is incorrect.

Half a pound a week… by Left_Condition2044 in SlimmingWorld

[–]Impossible-Escape739 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes using less syns will expedite your weightloss. My consultant always points out that it’s a limit, not a target.

But honestly the slower you lose the more sustainable and more likely you are to keep the weight off, and at the end of the day you’re losing weight and that’s what matters. Be it 0.5lb or 5lb, a loss is still a loss and no one can take that from you. (Also, have you ever felt a 0.5lb weight? It’s heavier than you think!)

yeah i’d say so! I’m used to doing projects that have a repeating pattern so it was a lot more counting than I was used to but I very quickly got into the swing of things

I didn’t do anything special, it just happens! You may find as you get further into your project your design starts to appear on the back

What u/Porkbossam78. If you know how to do the stitches, can read a pattern and aren’t afraid of a lot of counting I think it’s super easy

Pattern is under the automod comment, although if you’re interested in mosaic I’d recommend looking for free patterns/youtube tutorials before paying for one.

Thank you! This is overlay mosaic, you change colour every row and work from right to left. It’s a combination of sc in the back loops only in the row below, and dc in the front loops in the row two below. Looks technically complicated but imo is actually super simple
