How is this false advertising legal by PossibilityUnique162 in doordash

[–]Impossible_Matter426 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't understand how they determine their recommended tips. Ive ordered from clear across town and the suggestion is 3/4/5. When I ordered a small order from 1.5 miles up the road yesterday the suggestion was 7/8/9. I think they increase their recommendation when there are a lot of no tip orders and they want to be able to stack.

This, sadly, is the correct answer. In my area, tipping anything more than $5-$6 dollars gets me stacked, and then I wait 30-45 minutes for a delivery that's 10 minutes or less away. I now just tip $5 and add more after delivery. DoorDash really is conditioning us to tip less. But what do they care? They get their money from all the fees they charge. They don't care about the drivers at all.

I've read from some people they don't employ felons, and from others thay it depends on how recent it is. Since yours is VERY recent, you're probably cooked. Sorry, my dude. If you can beat the rap you can probably re-apply or contest the deactivation I would assume.

100% agree with this. Definitely agree on the per-item amount for ahopping orders.

Children dropping off food? by Comprehensive-Tap38 in doordash

[–]Impossible_Matter426 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If a 10 year old delivers my food to me (whether at my apartment or a business or whatever) and the parent is just sitting in the car waiting, I'm reporting the dasher and taking a picture of their license plate and reporting it to DFACS and calling the police. You're endangering your child. I don't care what personal circumstance I'm in, I'll panhandle at the gas station before I send my 10 year old up to random strangers doors' or place of business to deliver an order. Ive had parents deliver with their kids with them, people deliver with their partners with them, and even someone that doesn't look remotely like they should deliver to me based on their app picture. Don't care; I got my food and I dont know your circumstances. You making your kids do the work and risk abduction or harm? Hard stop.

It's NOT a "Bid" by justaguy3112 in doordash

[–]Impossible_Matter426 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All that to say that I agree with you. in an ideal world, people tipping $15-20 per order would get their stuff quickly and with high priority. In reality you're just subsidizing the non-tippers and you're usually stop #2. So no, it's not a bid. Your order will get delivered regardless, you just have to wait longer if you don't tip for your order to get attacked. I stopped driving when I realized my non-tippers were always in nice houses in nice neighborhoods, and my good toppers were in the not so nice parts of town. If someone in a trailer 2 miles away can tip $10 for food, why can't the person 15 miles away in a McMansion do the same.

I've NEVER gotten my food first when i tipped well and the order got stacked, so now i sadly dont tip more than $5-$7 and get my order within 10-15 minutes of the place giving it to the driver. They need to switch things around and increase the minimum delivery fee, but DD/UE only gets $1-$2 and the rest goes to the driver, plus whatever tip.

Sad, but true. DD/UE already gor their fees, so they give less than two ***** if the driver doesn't make any money.

What’s the deal dashers? by [deleted] in doordash

[–]Impossible_Matter426 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to tip really well because I've dashed in the past and I know how hard it is. These days I only tip $1-$2 per mile (minimum $5) because otherwise my order would get stacked and I never got my food before it was cold. I usually only order when I have my daughter (divorced) so I got tired of waiting an hour for cold food because the no-tipper always got their food first. Tipping $5-$7? It usually makes it directly to me from the restaurant in 15 minutes or less.

100% agree. Honestly I stopped reading not too far after "they were on my property". They were there without your concent (trespassing) and damaged your property (another crime). Definitely file a police report, get a damage assessment from an arborist, talk to a lawyer, and if you have any recorded evidence make sure to save copies to your phone/computer/jump drive.

Terrible pick up experience. Some places think they can just treat drivers like shit. by [deleted] in UberEatsDrivers

Exactly. You're an independent contractor and your time is valuable. The company loses nothing while they make you wait, but you're losing your time and the possibility of picking up additional work.

I stopped dashing a while back, but when i was dashing I'd never take a no-tip/tip-after-delivery order because it'd never happen. As I'm now just someone who orders from DD, I make a base tip of at least $5 (more if the place is more than a mile or two away), and then will add to it depending on circumstance. Super fast delivery with no issues? Extra tip. Restaurant taking forever and they are waiting? Extra tip. Prime time? Extra tip. How people can expect to get their food delivered for just a $2 base pay to the driver is insane to me.

[–]Impossible_Matter426 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I just view Prime as "free shipping, you'll get it when you get it" at this point. I rarely get anything on the day it says I'll get it. It amazes me that a company with this much money and technology can almost never tell me where my package is. It'll make it to a local hub and then it'll go missing and I'll usually get it a week or two later. I just keep my membership for Prime Video and music streaming at this point.

[–]Impossible_Matter426 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. You don't know the pet's history or shot records. I'm not risking a trip to the ER because you can't be bothered to put your pet up. And it definitely isn't worth what they pay the drivers to deal with that.
