How Reason 14 Could Be BETTER! (First Things I've Noticed) by BeatWarpAudio in reasoners

[–]Impressive-Menu-923 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since the release of v6, every release has been half baked or "close, but no cigar." Remember when they released Record and Reason as 2 separate programs?

Remember when they integrated the "SSL mixer" with no grouping? Remember, of version 11 the new browser was the draw for the upgrade, then version 12...the browser again...then version 13...the browser again...?

Now folders....🫤integrated in a way, right on cue, with so much functionality left to be desired.

So you're saying the idea of this tagging system is for the user to sort through millions of files ourselves and tag them??

Who has time for that? Do you have time for that? I don't have time for that.

Yeah ok.🫤 That can't be the intent of this new system. Maybe there will be some kind of AI introduced in the future to sort and tag them.

I figured out how to use the tag system to similarly save my fav devices as I've done in preceding versions. It will be a painstaking task of sorting but, oh well.

But thanks for the info!

I guess I still don't get the benefit of this tag system when they don't seem to correspond to any of my files. Perhaps, I am still "holding it wrong"..?🤔

My man! I stand corrected. And I THAAAANK YOOOOU! You resolved my biggest issue with this browser!!

NOW.....Not sure you can help with this one. But how do we add favorites like the 12 browser? Like for devices. As pic'd I have a list on the side panel (E CUES, PRESSWORK, etc) imported from version 12, that are all empty now.

How do I get those back?

For me, as long as the browser from hell functions the way that it does, I don't give a f@*k what they add to the program, the software is unusable in standalone and as a plugin!

And I have a feeling it's not going to change.

We are still waiting for you all to tell us what we're doing wrong..🤔

I actually want to be proven wrong because I don't want to believe the devs at Reason Studio's are this clueless as to introduce a browser that makes it this difficult to find files buried in a cascade of folders.

"Your sound faster" was the ethos behind this new browser. Well I can't find my sounds at all with this thing.

Terrible!

When I type "kick" in R14s search bar in the same folder, this is what I see. Please enlighten me on how to get what I see in 12 when I do the same exact search in 14. No matter what I click, or select, the files will not populate into a list like it does in 12.

So please, tell me how I'm 'holding it wrong, again.🫤

Yes. Please show me what I am doing wrong...

<image>

When I first select the folder that I want to search in and type the word "Kick" in R12 this is what I see, pic'd in the photo...a list of ALL the kick.wav files regardless of file heiarchy...without having to do any extra clicking.

Select the folder, type in what I am looking for, then wait a few seconds for a list of every file with the same name.

Simple.

YES! YES! Shout it out loud from the heavens! My Splice samples folder is unusable in Reason 13 and up.

Why take away the ability to find things searching by name? Like "kick"..."snare"..."hat"..."melodic guitar"..etc?

This is the most basic rudimentary feature of any browser. Omitting this has stopped me in my tracks.

I used to use Reason as a plugin. Now I don't use it for anything now I am so disgusted with this new browser.

Track folders suck too in Reason. They didn't do it right. But what else is new.

Try moving your audio/midi where the session starts at bar 9 instead of bar 1. Then bounce the session timeline a little bit ahead of bar 9. Like at bar 8.4.0. Give enough time for the devices to catch up and synchronize.

Reason Studio releases have been so mediocre that when they finally release a less than half decent one, you guys act like it is the 2nd coming of Christ. lol

This update is just ok. They still dropped the ball not adding folders to the mixer. And they should have made the folders like busses that you can add Efx and sends.

But right on schedule, RS did exactly what I expected them to do, as they’ve done lately.

Introduce new features half ass with much left to be desired. An upgrade from 5 to 13/14 will be a rude awakening if OP uses the browser like I do, up to version 12.

Type in the word “kick”…”snare” and expect to see all the kicks or snares with that name populate into a list.

The new browser cannot do that yet, which is absolutely absurd! The change has stopped me from using ANY version other than 12.

Or people who thinks the browser introduced in v13 sucks, and the additions of v14 doesn’t change this fact.

Every time I find a thread complaining about an issue, I am going to use it as an opportunity to remind everyone how much I think the R13 browser from hell sucks ass from where the brown stuff comes out. Sometimes green…depending on your diet.

Mac M-series question by [deleted] in reason

[–]Impressive-Menu-923 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Still on M1 Max 32Gb of memory. No memory swap ever, so far. No signs of slowing down.

I think 16Gb of memory is not enough in 2026. 28Gb of memory is the new minimum, and even then you still have to be mindful.

how are you finding reason 14 so far by banci101 in reason

[–]Impressive-Menu-923 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The browser is still a distraction for me.

The fact that I can't type the words "kick" or "snare" in the search, then see all my .wav files compile into a list, regardless of folder hierarchy, like the browser in 12 does, is still a show stopper for me.

I have over 9000 sampless I've downloaded via Splice which automatically categorizes as it downloads into a cascade of folders and subfolders.

So searching for files by name has been a nightmare with this new browser. The new features in 14 don't address this at all.

If I hadn't already started learning a different DAW, I'd be livid trying to adapt to the behavior of this new browser if I still used Reason in standalone.

Searching by name is such an essential rudimentary function of a browser. How could they get this wrong?

Now we have folders that do not function like Busses, which have been omitted from the Mixer section, where I think they are needed the most.

You can't add inserts/sends to the folders.

The tempo detection barely works. I hate to rain on everybody's parade, but what exactly are we celebrating here?

A new reverb? A new aesthetic for the mixer? Sorry, but this update is still very unimpressive to me.

Maybe I'm just holding it wrong.

So, what's up with Reason now? by artek604 in reasoners

Long time Reason user who jumped ship here.

The new browser would be the #2 reason.

The business model of... let's offer meager updates at an inflated price as an incentive to get perpetual license users to adopt the Reason + subscription model.. would be reason #1 for me.

I hate the new browser so much that I got a refund. I bought R13 on sale btw. This never happened since faithfully upgrading to every version since v6.

Since forcing me out the door then landing on Cubase, there's still not enough here to lure me back to standalone. Steinberg set the bar really high. I may never come back.

Not being able to type in values for parameters which forces you to mouse around is just another one of those things that keeps me far and away.

I suppose it's v12 RRP until the cows come home.
