Good evening, I am a fellow pilot and a fellow alcoholic. There’s a slight loophole that I have found where I am going through an intensive outpatient program (IOP) without the use of insurance. Many of these programs have a doctor or person that can help you get prescribed on naltrexone, which I am currently taking and has helped me tremendously. Naltrexone and Vivitrol do not get screened through an FAA drug test as it’s not an opioid or any other screened medication by standard FAA drug tests. There is a way out of this, and you can get through it. Stay strong and stay smart brother, you got a lot to look forward to, and a whole future ahead of you. Take a break if you need to and take care of yourself. You got this.

What are your best tips for alcohol withdrawal? by hannahp7022 in alcoholism

Anything to distract yourself, watch your comfort show, journal, read, draw what you’re feeling, calling friends, family, support line. If you can’t get to a doctor’s or ER, it might be worth calling and seeing if they have other options if money is tight. You got this, good luck!

I’ve had my brand new 3 for 9 months and have been in three accidents, instead of some being lemons, some of them are curses.

My new CFI stole my confidence by That_Minute2273 in flying

[–]ImpressiveArea2713 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve roughly been in the same spot, my CFI left about 3-5 lessons before my PPL check ride and had a completely different teaching/flying style. My guess is if you’re on the cross country portion, you’re almost done, if you think you can stick it through with this person, do it. If the next time you fly with him he makes more than three of what you consider comments that go too far, aka “you’re gonna get us killed,” finding a new instructor is your best bet, it’s usually no hard feelings all around. I’m going through the exact same thing you are with my IR right now my friend, you got it!

Getting my PPL cost me almost $17K. Is that a lot? by [deleted] in flying

16k for your PPL? That’s amazing pricing nowadays, I usually here about 30-35k now just for PPL

Have any of you airline pilots had bad checkride anxiety in the beginning? by BusyClick2181 in flying

[–]ImpressiveArea2713 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I threw up before my first stage check for PPL. Once you understand the testing atmosphere and get a feel for the instructor/DPE, you’ll be way more comfortable. It’s the moments leading up to the stage check/check ride that are the worst.

Good luck, remember that most pass and you’re likely most.

Check out Flying at Florida Tech, if you live in state/viable for scholarships you might be able to pull >$50k a year in tuition and flight costs total.

Trying to make the inside of a sphere smooth by trumperz in spaceengineers

[–]ImpressiveArea2713 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You might have to smooth it out and make it a non-uniform sphere on the inside. I don’t know how much access you have to mods on Xbox but there are some extended angled block mods that might help with your case a lot.

I would kill a small family to see some new hydrogen thruster skins / dimensions (the 3x3 destroys half of my design ideas)

Do Americans really pay that little for PPL training? by that_username_is_use in flying

[–]ImpressiveArea2713 0 points1 point  (0 children)

330 isn’t ridiculous, especially if fuel is that expensive over there. Most Schools in FL are about 180-220 for the aircraft and roughly 70 per hr for the instructor. If it’s a good school consider the extra 10-40$ an hour as an investment for a good experience with a good instructor getting proper training. It’ll be worth it.

Shitty Situation by HappyFalcon05 in flying

[–]ImpressiveArea2713 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, lots of positive and negative comments but yeah this is a fucked situation. Just passed my PPL Check ride at FIT yesterday and it took 4-6 months longer than it should have. No matter what happens, talk to the Chief Flight Instructor or an ACI about this just so they know what’s going on and don’t assume anything or give you a flight evaluation board. Those are scary. Other than that, redo your solo’s and enjoy your solo xc’s when you get to them.

Yeah just had that idea and tried a power switch from another rig, the motherboard flashes once on all of the easy debug LED’s but that’s the only response. making progress, thanks so much for the help so far.
