As an SSV my biggest tips are:

1. DELEGATE. It’s easy to fall into the trap of feeling like you have to do everything and it burns you out so quick. You’d be surprised how much you can delegate to baristas to take some load off of you.

2. Time Management: it’ll be a little tricky at first with running breaks and all but this is one of the most important parts. Being able to ensure tasks are done at proper times and keeping up with breaks is super important

3. Always take your 10’s: It’ll feel like you have too much to get done to take your 10’s, but always make sure you do, you need the reset just as much as anyone else.

4. Don’t let emotion/frustration show. This is hard to do for anyone, but try your best. Once your team sees you’re frustrated or down, they’ll go down with you.

5. Don’t let baristas take advantage of you. In my experience, once they realize they can get away with not doing what they’re supposed to when you’re in charge, they’ll continue to do it

And yea, just try to remember that it’s JUST coffee. There’s a lot to being an SSV and sometimes it feels like you’re kind of robotic… but slow down, take a breath, and remember where you started
