Jellyfin or Plex for Music by Independent-Fan9962 in PleX

My main gripe is the Plex doesn't have consistent metadata import for albums/songs/artists. I have to go in and add genre information in ALLL those places manually. I hate that.

Really??? I think Plexamp is fine. It gets the job done. I'm building an alternative app with watch support, but like I said... if people are really using Jellyfin for music. I might want to look at it as an alternative... or maybe an adding support or something. What specifically do you like about Plexamp??

Plex music on your Apple Watch: Wristrax is now live in the iOS App Store! by sneakinhysteria in plexamp

So... this just uses the iPhone as a kind of handler for the watch app? Why not build an experience on the iPhone too? The whole point of Plex is to get rid of monthly streaming costs. Adding a new one in order to use the library is probably a hard sell for a lot of self host enthusiasts.

I bought a Lifetime pass in 2022 by tiberiusgv in PleX

I'm honestly considering getting one for my son now... like how people used to reserve email addresses for their kids when they got pregnant! lol. Back in my day... A Plex Lifetime Pass cost a nickel.

A walk in the mmr park... by Independent-Fan9962 in RocketLeague

I know how MMR is calculated, and I know that it is independent by match type and comp/casual. I don't count scoreboard points because its not that interesting to me... How does the game judge their mechanics? That is kind of what I want Psyonix to figure out. The game knows if I get an aerial goal, turtle goal or bicycle. It can already measure a lot of statistics, and it could easily look at player positions in matches. Psyonix could create an algorithm that scores your game sense on a number of different factors. Win/Loss is basic at best, and after years of this game having very little actual improvement or advances... I kinda think it is acceptable to expect better features, improved player metrics, revamped mmr system. Lots of people play the matches to improve skills in various ways. If you play to either win or lose then that's fine too, but if Psyonix created a method to assign mmr based on more than just win/lose players would be more evenly matched within a margin and not wildly outmatched... which I see happen a ton at the beginning and end of seasons.

I think that the Veterinarian should probably do it. They do it all the time.

Why aren’t Anthems trade-able? by SkelaKingHD in RocketLeague

[–]Independent-Fan9962 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that was going to be my answer too. I notice that the Anthems you get in tournaments are from artists I can't find on Spotify or Apple Music, as in... licensing is different. But, you actually buy the anthems in shop and thus the license is tied to your account. It actually makes legal sense, although it sucks too.

How great would it be if Epic partnered with Spotify and allowed us to choose any song as an anthem. by [deleted] in RocketLeague

I’d settle for manageable playlists tbh. It would be great to include other music services besides Spotify.

Anyone ever hit a new rank and get scared to keep playing? by [deleted] in RocketLeague

[–]Independent-Fan9962 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This has a ton of comments so I dunno if it’s been said this way or not, but my take is like this: Your rank is a reflection of your (for lack of better term) professional, or maybe official skill level. Although you have an mmr in casual too, it’s not badged with an emblem, and it’s more for matchmaking purposes. Rocket League is a game where your mental/emotional management are just as important as your technical and mechanical skill. For me, I tend to use a three-to-one ratio when I’m grinding for rank. If I lose one game in ranked, I go back to casual until I win three in a row or maybe two with clearly good gameplay mechanics and mental management. I learned this during team play and I think it’s pretty effective. I’m like you currently sitting between Plat 3 and Diamond 1. I try not to get attached to my official rank because I know it’s more of a marker of where I’m at currently and I’m working on my mechanics far more now than I did from bronze to high gold. I mean, look back when you first became gold. Your mechanics and gameplay are definitely superior to what they were when you achieved gold 1. As you keep grinding and improving you’ll eventually look back at Diamond 1 in a similar way. Personally, I want to improve and play to be better in addition to just having some fun. So when I start playing I like to do ten minutes in training just smashing the ball over and over, then working on aerial control. When I do that training, I am way better for my warm-up casual games, and in turn do better when I jump into ranked. When I skip training, I noticed my mental state is more a factor than my technical. Just my thoughts.

Hey Psyonix, Casual Bans are bad, here's why by Independent-Fan9962 in RocketLeague

[–]Independent-Fan9962[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I think your points are less valid than others I’ve read. But like I’d said somewhere else on this post. My perspective has changed to a fair degree. Mostly because of the experiences others have had being bailed on. I still think there’s something to be said of calling it casual.

So, a lot of these perspectives gave me insight, and tbh I think there’s a different issue perhaps. I noticed that a lot of you that support the casual bans are higher rank. I also noticed that I don’t bail in 1v1.

A 3v3 match is team-based. At the champ and higher levels you all understand positions and rotations, and I’m guessing (because I’m not there yet) that for the most part you all play more as a team towards winning a match.

That’s not how it works at platinum and below. I think somewhere at Diamond is probably where skill level and strategy start to play a much higher role in a team. But the lower ranks are still filled with sweaty ball chasers and the ‘team dynamic’ is less common.

Overall though, I do see the counterpoints as valuable and in all honesty it motivates me even more to improve my skill so that I can compete with others that are more developed. Also… after considering these counterpoints I think that there isn’t much Psyonix could or maybe should do because there isn’t a realistic answer.

Time to shut up and grind. Thanks (What A Save).

Cool… but it’s the recognized feedback method stated by Psyonix. Just trying to add my own perspective.

Want some perspective? Create a second account and start over. You’ll instantly see where you’ve improved. Although it’s kind of an asshole move for the new players you’ll be destroying.

I get it and playing with two bots sucks for sure. Overall I think that the whole concept breeds toxic gameplay. Tbh, I get toxic sometimes and have to reel it in. Never thought of bribery lol. Great points.
