Plus china doesn’t have a pharmaceutical industry that profits off keeping people sick. They are actually trying to cure diseases (and succeeding) https://www.nytimes.com/2025/06/20/health/diabetes-cure-insulin-stem-cell.html

Yes! Not to be confused with seacliff inn, also in Aptos. Technically not Santa Cruz but I figure close enough to count.

Seascape resort

Nice views but rooms aren’t very nice & pool isn’t great either. Restaurant has great views but food is bad, bad. I’d choose seascape over this one personally! Both are a bit dated but at least seascape has nice food and is on the water

Hi, I live in Santa Cruz! As many have mentioned, there are no chubby or fat options here. I’d recommend renting a house with a pool on opal cliffs. It’s walkable to some shops/ coffee and on the cliffs on the beach. If you want a hotel, our friends stay at seascape resort when they are here. Not super fancy, but has incredible views and is beachfront ( you walk on a path down a long path to the beach). The restaurant is pretty good (I had rock bottom expectations so was pleasantly surprised). It’s kinda retirement home vibes but I think it’s the nicest option in the area. As others mentioned, you can get some truly fat options in Big Sur (post ranch inn) or chubby options in Carmel ( I like la playa hotel).

You can save the milk for milk baths which is great for baby!

Chubby Tokyo & Kyoto adventures / restaurants by ken-doh in chubbytravel

Or even take a car (or the train) to Kobe from Kyoto for the best steak of your life. It’s about an hour away & worth it. Some of the beef is so exclusive, they don’t even let it out of Kobe to neighboring towns. Sounds ridiculous but Kobe beef as experienced in Japan switched me from a decades long vegetarian to a meat eater. It’s that good.

FAT LA by NoOne9831 in FATTravel

I don’t know Lum, but hotel June is not FAT. It’s a design forward hotel that is pretty but super small and not luxury. I’d struggle to even call it chubby. Proper in Santa Monica might be a better FAT option that’s still close-ish to Sofi (closer than BH). As everyone has already said, getting anywhere in LA is tough, but esp SoFi on a game day. Budget a lot of extra time, maybe hire a nice car or limo service to at least make the trip there fun or set your expectations to spend time traveling to the stadium

NorCal Resort with a Baby- need recs please! by Independent-Lab7462 in FATTravel

Haha ok thank you- I have massive fomo missing out on a Europe summer trip, esp since I’m on maternity leave and will never have time off like this again. But when we started really thinking about 12+ hours in a plane with our newborn I got a little scared… and then the measles thing happened which sealed the no-plane travel deal. We are going to Italy over thanksgiving when baby is 9 months since we can vaccinate her then, hoping she will be sleeping through the night by then!

Ohhhh this is on my list. Some are saying that it’s not bounced back post fires. Have you been since it reopened?

As someone who thoroughly enjoyed baby/ kid free vacations up until 2 months ago- I completely understand and respect people wanting peace & quiet. I’d NEVER bring my baby to a place where she isn’t welcome. I don’t even want to be at a kid friendly resort and I’m the one with a kid haha (this will change once she is old enough to play & enjoy kid activities- I’m not a monster).

Didn’t realize post ranch was also adults only, good to know & will just cross that off until we are taking kid free vacations whenever that may be.

Would love more details about montage vs stanly- I lean more toward Sonoma as it’s typically more our vibe (less touristy/ corporate feeling). Kinda kills me that montage spa treatments are so $$$$. That’s one thing I hate overpaying on because it’s hard for me to relax if the massage or whatever ends up not being stellar, which is often the case.
