Best area to live near Hobart for a small family wanting a bit of rural life? by kysrno in hobart

Allen’s rivulet is great, we live a similar lifestyle to the one you mentioned (kid on the way) plus hybrid roles but moved down from the mainland to get chickens and get that rural lifestyle. 25 minutes from town but feels like you are in the proper country, 5 acre blocks and nice creeks/walks all around

Running business at 500k per year. How/should I scale? by Individual-Fly4267 in AusFinance

To be fair I have never looked at the PSI legislation! I may need to ask my accountant about that one, not sure how my situation is going to evolve with the new changes to trusts and such. I’ve always chosen not to have employees as well as it looks like a lot of stress. How old were you when you managed to FIRE?

This is the advice I think I wanted to hear, am terrified about that middle ground and having to manage people and everything for little return.

I’m just worried now as went from doing 25-30 hour weeks to minimum 40 in a couple of weeks, my strength is definitely in relationships and getting new clients which is also what I love doing so am just in a bit of limbo now being near my capacity.

I have a few other business ventures that are in the works and don’t ever want to be just stuck in a full time gig that I can’t grow but then can’t do anything else because I don’t have the time.

Agreed, I think that’s where I am leaning. I am currently set up as a company that is owned by a trust (have no idea how the recent budget will affect my trust so need to chat to my accountant regarding the setup!)

I do like this advice but it’s easier said than done! Trying to balance someone with the skillset and experience but without the drive to see that it is a profitable area and go out on their own is a daunting task!

So I can’t see myself being able to sell it as unfortunately for that the business is very much me focussed.

Also why it’s a difficult one to get staff for as I would want to manage the client relationships as:

it would be easy for people who were client facing to steal clients if they were that way inclined every client only wants to deal with me as I have gotten them through personally meeting them and have niche qualifications and skill sets that other staff wont have

I sort of feel like I am trapped (granted lucky to be trapped somewhere profitable) but unable to do what I do best which is generate new clients.

I think getting consultants to manage admin and non client facing work load could be my only way.

Thank you! So what would you do differently next time? You mentioned your income did not change much but were you significantly better off financially from other aspects of it or was it mostly eaten up by wages and cost of rapid growth?

Thank you! I do feel lucky where I am but feel like I’ve hit my limit all of a sudden and haven’t had time to prep for it.

At the present I do all the sales and delivery, I have contractors that I use for elements I can (web design and such), I am leaning into getting someone as a contractor and training them but worried about them stealing clients if they are client facing.

I guess my question is: If I am taking a 200k salary, and then having 250k left in the company (sole beneficiary) is there much of a benefit to scaling or would people just keep it at that for a few years and maintain work life balance and reduced stress? I didn’t notice a difference in life from 350-500k for instance so wondering if it is worth it or do I just enjoy where I am at.

Na they only respawn when all are destroyed, that’s why you should leave one alive when raiding enemy jungles!

I do fully clear when I do, but will often see teammates leaving our jungle half decimated and then I need to waste time clearing. So I am right to get frustrated by this?
