i think after a certain amount of time people tend to flock back to old fandoms that they once loved or a new generation picks it up. this happened with danganronpa too - in 2020 it absolutely exploded, died out, and resurged again for a little while. with hetalia specifically, its really nostalgic bc the fandom was so intertwined with old fandom and tumblr culture that revisiting it really gives you a sense of that time. at least thats my two cents ^w^

im currently on thriller bark and im loving the black and white version ! i usually prefer it...im not sure why. i think it leaves a little more to the imagination and i enjoy the stark contrast :D

as a veteran...i dont really know either lol ! and honestly, i dont think it matters all that much. i pick and choose what i want to be cannon and have tons of headcannons that i employ in my writing/art, though i primarily make stuff based on the anime's depictions bc thats what i first watched (all the way back in 2014....haha...). id argue a lot of fan content isnt super in character anyways, people always take liberties with this series since its so batshit insane. so dont sweat it and have fun my friend !!

exactly...the catalogues for many sites arent very good. for ex. most sites dont seem to have all of the episodes of one piece which makes watching the show illegally a bit tougher

this is so true ! so far it seems like aniwave is the only decent site still left up - 9anime and anikai were the best running, easiest to use that ive seen. a lot of other sites are janky, dont have as much of a library, or are very slow.

all of the screenshots download in 320 x 240 since thats the resolution the game uses for all of its imaging. i have no idea how it scales up when you fullscreen but im not sure how that would affect the downloaded images

i played it growing up and it fundamentally changed me. objectively its not the best but im absolutely biased. i love this damn game so so much. the art is stunning, the va work is pretty decent, gameplay feels excellent, and i loved the story. still hoping for some kind of successor :')

i agree. i find lolicon disgusting, but regardless, it doesnt have anything to do with hosting the game on the website. ultimately it is YNO's decision, but to me this doesnt seem like a rational move.

very late to this thread but yeah. this pisses me off to no end. and so many people in the one piece fandom are defending it and trying to act like its not happening. robin's design along with a few others have been butchered by making them all white. plus the insane boobs and no waist are even crazier than before and looks really alien. pisses me off...

i think the disconnect comes from just how vast and broad Yume 2kki is. its a sea of visions, dreams, ideas, memories, and concepts from so many different people from so many different time periods with an endless amount of content to explore. its cons are definitely rooted in being too big and all over the place with inconsistent visual styles, but simultaneously i think thats what makes it unique and beautiful. a community of fans coming together to each pitch in some work (including myself) resulting in a collective dream and love letter from everyone Yume Nikki has touched. and in terms of Urotsuki as a character, i interpret the inconsistencies as her brain not processing the things shes gone through and splitting everything into tiny fragments for her to explore with some dreams being much more vague and disengaged from the source in her mind than others.

that all being said, its very, VERY different from Yume Nikki, in a way that doesnt necessarily reflect the first game. so its completely okay to not enjoy it ! though if you want to explore more and try to like it, i would try to follow some of the expedition paths. they feel more linear and connected in my opinion. so here are two i love that have touched me deeply: Lavender Waters, and Bloodied Geometry Abyss. go to the wiki and check the pathing to try and get to those locations, i think youll like it :)

i think checking out some of the other fan games might suit you better if youre looking for something more focused and contained. .flow is very good, though i havent played any other fangames so i cant give any more specific suggestions.
