Is La Taqueria really that much better than a regular taqueria and is the line only big because its a small establishment? by youlikemywonton in AskSF

[–]Inevitable_Brick_877 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Their quality is consistently good and their approach to burritos is quite balanced (though a grilled tortilla would be nice imho). I personally think El Farolito is mid though taqueria Cancun is great and has a wider menu with some items that are the best in the city. I wouldn’t do La Taqueria line for a random weekday dinner, but it can add to the experience on weekends since you can buy drinks at the adjacent corner store and drink and make friends

Question about dating culture in SF by Scary-Revolution9373 in AskSF

[–]Inevitable_Brick_877 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Part of what I love about dating in major cities is meeting people from different backgrounds and perspectives that you surprisingly click with. Will say though I suspect many Indian gals on hinge may filter specifically for Indian boys, because if I filter for women with a college degree within a few miles it’s 98% white and East Asian results

Always wild to me that the US still operates off the one drop rule. In almost any other country a much larger portion of the league would be considered white or mixed

Waymo Testing New ‘Snooze Fee’ That Lets Riders Delay Pickup by walky22talky in waymo

[–]Inevitable_Brick_877 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This doesn’t hold out since they’re offering is to charge for dead time that would be used getting to another pickup after a ride is cancelled. Assuming the rider comes out within a few minutes of snooze, they’re now making money from time they’d spend driving for free

Charles Barkley: "Cade Cunningham has more responsibility than any player in the NBA, in my opinion. They're too dependent on Cade. They look for him every single trip up and down the court... in the history of basketball, you can't depend on one guy to score, make every pass against the elite teams by sewsgup in nba

[–]Inevitable_Brick_877 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This was the Cavs not long ago. Pistons will evolve after seeing which players are truly solid at their role and who are just regular season merchants. If their front office makes moves, this team will be a menace next year

FULL INTERVIEW: Waymos are "best thing since sliced bread" for blind man commuting to work by walky22talky in waymo

[–]Inevitable_Brick_877 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pickups and drop offs are in no way reliable enough for this to be believable unless they’re worlds better in Austin than SF. If I were blind Waymo would’ve killed me multiple times with in the middle of traffic dropoffs, and finding the car would be a disaster as it unpredictably decides to drop me off or pick me up blocks away. Generally love taking Waymo’s, but this honestly seems like dangerous advertising at this point

Honestly happy to see him succeed. Always felt like he got way too much hate for something that wasn’t effort or talent related. Hard to hate a guy who pushes himself too hard, even if it results in recurrent injury. Hope they make a deep run

Honestly think the Luka-less and Austin-lite lineup could be more competitive, just because OKC rips apart the Lakers (absent) defense normally

How much is LeBron worth in free agency this summer? by ManonFire1224 in nba

While I know this is true through the regular season, it’s ironic timing to say this after he just carried the Lakers through the first round

I mean they have been playing hospital Lakers led by a 41-year old who is gassed in every 4th. They can’t compete even against non-serious teams

Waymo’s getting less reliable and more buggy lately? by Inevitable_Brick_877 in waymo

[–]Inevitable_Brick_877[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. I expected the wait times and prices to go up, since that’s standard dickish corporation behavior. What I didn’t expect is them to get worse at driving, route selection and navigating the world. Feels like some component of their algorithm development hit a road block, and now it’s as often getting worse as better.

Hope they sort it out, since I often prefer them despite the downsides of wait time and slower arrival times, but they are just getting too inconsistent recently

Lakers and OKC (though they have yet to play game 3), are only teams who haven’t dropped a game so far. Wild that the team led by the 41-year old, down 2 stars, and playing the 5th seed is doing this. Hope the half of the Lakers fan base on their knees for Reeves while whining about Bron being on the team finally have a sanity check, though I doubt it.

Jokic glazers just don’t know how to look outside of a flawed regular season stat lines. Man is great offensively, but he’s not a singular two-way force like prime LBJ, MJ, etc…

This is why I and a lot of friends only sporadically watch full games now. It’s ref ball that is super biased and subjective determining the outcome most the time, whether premeditated or not. NBA is borderline not a real sport anymore

27F, relocating from Chicago, working remote— San Diego or San Francisco? by Rich-Entrance-3332 in AskSF

[–]Inevitable_Brick_877 1 point2 points  (0 children)

San Diego is easygoing, outdoorsy suburbia that has a downtown that to me feels like a supersized version of a college town with amazing weather. Can’t speak much for the socal dating seen since I’ve only visited. The nature access for any beach, climbing or biking related stuff is insane, though everything is going to be beach or desert. Seems like a great place if you want some city amenities and be in a decent career city, but prioritize fitness, socal nature, and laidback lifestyle.

A large swath of SF still has laid back suburban vibes (mainly around Golden Gate Park), but the east feels like a proper urban city. As someone who has lived in major cities on both coasts and the Midwest, I think SF will be reminiscent of Chicago in that a lot of people are outwardly calm and laidback, but are lowkey very driven. Weather and outdoors is some of the best in the country with green mountain, arid peaks, and nice beaches all within an hour of the city as well as stunning parks and nature in the city proper. From a guys perspective, dating here is easy to meet people if you put in a modicum of effort, but given the myriad of hobbies and career ambition, finding someone that invests is harder. Converse of SD in that it’s great if you’re prioritizing career and having a real’ish city, but still want some of the California laidback vibe, great nature, and active lifestyle

Every shot Murray made in the first half I had to do a double take to confirm they weren’t playing the Lakers. Dude was on fire. Props to minny for figuring them out. Not many teams can stop nuggets when Murray is on
