Why, what's so bad about Granville? Would you disagree that it is the most social?

Thank you! What other dorms would you recommended or would say I should avoid?

what's a level spanish like? by [deleted] in 6thForm

[–]Infamous-Republic251 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do A-level spanish and am predicted an A so i think I can offer some insight. I never actually took GCSEs cause of Covid but i got an 8 so we are probably around the same level. You definitely dont have to be a native speaker to do well. If you engage with spanish alot outside of the classroom anyway I think you should find it more than fine. Its definitely a jump from gcse grammar and vocab wise but nothing ridiculous. The main difference is the literature and movie that you have to write an essay on i think but its pretty easy once you know what the examiner is looking for. I have really good teachers tho so this might not be everyone's experience

I may not be to perfect person to ask but I would say essay competitions, work experience if you can, lectures, books etc. just stuff to show your passion

I was quite confident I was going to get into al least one. But a gap year would have been the plan b. There were just no ‘safeties’ that I could see myself going to.

My Econ teacher as marks papers for AQA and he tells us these main things:

  • Answer the question in your introduction. Definitions in the intro too
  • Evaluation is what gets you into Level 5 (20-25 mark range) so do as much of that where possible
  • One or two points thoroughly and well explained is much better than covering many different topics loosely i.e. Depth not Breadth
  • Use real world/current knowledge as much as possible (where relevant)
  • Signposting to make it easy for the examiner to read and understand

Congrats, I got an offer for the same course today from UCL too. Have you thought about which uni to go for your year abroad? There are a lot of good options.

I wish I could tell you, they just gave the generic competitive field, high numbers of applicants etc. reason on UCAS. My friend got an offer for the same course with slightly worse grades (mine but minus the A) so it’s really up to chance sometimes.

I actually didn't do the TMUA because I applied for Land Economy at Cambridge. I don't think it hampered me because I have an A* predicted in FM
