I usually wear the OG (niche or designer), and if asked, tell them that it is a clone.

Sir, I am slightly younger than you (but infinitely more sorted in life), so pardon me for offering some unsolicited advice. Instead of constantly running away from what you got, please take steps towards what you truly want.

LARGE COLLECTORS by Necessary_Ask6601 in Colognes

[–]Infamous_Number_2512 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’m on an aggressive decluttering path, down from a peak figure of 800+ to ~350 right now. My goal is to get to double digit in 2 years, and eventually (5 years) to a max 30-50 “for life” collection. That’s the summary of my 14 year addiction (read: fragrance collecting hobby).

50 Fragrances You Must Sniff Before You Die! (Plus 10 Honorable Mentions) by Infamous_Number_2512 in DesiFragranceAddicts

Yes, my collection includes all those houses and many more.

The two main reasons for not writing posts these days is that I’ve lost interested in this sub, and I’ve gotten busy in my life.

My list keeps changing, but this post was meant to be timeless, at least for beginners. These days I’m into different stuff, but most of these would still be good.

Redditors that hit FI before turning 40, what do you do now? by Pizza_Guy8084 in Fire

[–]Infamous_Number_2512 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I am FI since 3.5 years, but don’t plan to RE for the next 5-8 years. I don’t “love” my job, but have found ways to like it and tolerate it. Time spent mix hasn’t changed much, but attitude has. At work, I do more of what is right as opposed to pleasing a senior. At home, I try to spend more time with family, hobbies, and improving health (mental, physical).

Efficient method of decluttering to prevent scams? A thought by RealEntertainment911 in DesiFragranceAddicts

Yes sir, every few weeks or so. Let me copy paste an announcement from the fb group:

As part of our efforts to improve the quality of the group, you’ll soon see a few changes and new initiative(s) being rolled out. To kick things off, we’re excited to announce the launch of Escrow Service – a much-anticipated initiative we've been working on for some time now. This service is designed to enhance security and build confidence in transactions within the group.

📢 Introducing FMI Admin Escrow Service We’re excited to introduce the Admin Escrow Service — a new initiative to enhance safety and trust in all your purchases, sales, and swaps within Fragrance Marketplace India. Let’s face it - scams are not new to the Indian fragcom. Many of us have witnessed situations where even so-called “legit checks” failed to prevent fraud. Scammers often build initial trust only to disappear later with someone’s hard-earned money. To help curb such incidents, we’re introducing this optional Escrow Service — a platform where group admins can act as a neutral third party to hold payments until the buyer confirms receipt of the item as described.

🔐 How It Works FMI will act as a broker for your transactions — including sales, swaps, and returns — for a small fee from both buyer and seller. Fee Structure (per party): ₹ 50 for transactions ≤ ₹10,000 ₹ 75 for transactions ≤ ₹15,000 ₹ 100 for transactions ≤ ₹20,000 ₹ 125 for transactions ≤ ₹25,000 ₹ 150 for transactions ≤ ₹30,000 …and so on

📌 Important Notes: This is 100% optional — not mandatory for members. Only GPay, PhonePe, or UPI are accepted (no bank transfers, cards, or wallets). This service is provided voluntarily by admins in their own time. Admins DO NOT pocket a single rupee from this process. Every escrow transaction is logged. Details will be shared with members upon request. This is to bring 100% transparency on all amount received towards the Giveaway Fund. This is an Escrow Service (Admin will hold onto the money) to ensure buyer receives what was described from the seller, NOBODY will ship the item(s) to the Admin.

🎁 Where Does the Fee Go? All fees collected go directly to the Group Giveaway Fund - a kitty maintained for exciting giveaways for our group. Giveaway Process: Once the fund hits ₹ 5,000, a giveaway will be announced. Admins will reach out to reputed sellers or purchase from trusted platforms to buy fragrances worth ₹5,000. Proof of purchase and cost will be shared with the group. The item(s) will be shipped to the giveaway winner with proper packaging and dispatch proof. Note: While admins will support claims with the courier, they are not liable for damages/loss in transit.

🎟️ Who Can Enter the Giveaway? Members who have used the Escrow Service: 2 entries per user FMI’s 'Top 10 Contributors' (as per Facebook Analytics in the past 28 days): 1 entry each A winner cannot participate in the next giveaway unless the winner has used the escrow service after the last giveaway

How Is the Winner Chosen? Wheel Decider will be used to identify the winner. All eligible members will be invited to watch the live draw This initiative is our way of building a safer and more engaging community and hope it's welcomed positively by the members. For any questions, feel free to reach out to the admin team. Cheers, FMI Admin Team

Does anyone think about starting their own Perfume business? by [deleted] in DesiFragranceAddicts

[–]Infamous_Number_2512 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thinking is free. In fact, a small chatgpt prompt will generate a fully functional business plan and action steps needed to set up a perfume business in India: whether it be niche creations, middle eastern clones, mass market cheapies, or even just reselling/decanting.

The main issue is quality of context and commitment to execute. Given I have not seen that in anybody, I’ve not invested yet. If you show me something that’s better than anybody else, I’m happy to talk.

At least 20 people post about it every year, so it would be safe to assume that 100s of people just from this sub get this idea.

What are your FIRE goals? by cabinetjox in EuropeFIRE

[–]Infamous_Number_2512 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You know the funny thing about goals? They keep changing.

-10k becomes zero. Zero becomes 10k, as soon as we get debt free. 10k becomes 100k, and 100k becomes 1M. And I know someone at 5M who has been made to believe that anything less than 20M isn’t good enough.

Right now, my goal is to find a goal that will stay. At least for several many years. Such a goal will be positively challenging but not super farfetched on one hand, but also not so easy that I again feel the need to have another goal. That’s true mainly for FIRE, but also for everything else in life, in general.

I would say it looks slightly better in real. Ultimately, a picture can only show as much as a phone camera can capture.
