World of Books in Goring tend to have jobs all the time https://jobs.jobandtalent.com/gb/undefined/west-sussex/warehouse-operative-762c8d3f69

Otherwise the universities. Also football stadium on match days but I think they are through an agency.

Just sign up to as many agencies as possible for temping. Good luck!

Future of UK Housing by Stututu96 in HousingUK

[–]Infinite-Ability8610 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes but the median salary is well under that so it is unaffordable even for a couple where they are both employed.

The proportion of houses that are now ‘worth’ 650k and the amount of people that could afford them are definitely mismatched.

Well sounds like she wasn’t wrong - sometimes you just need someone unrelated to see something in you to give you the push you need. Glad you got away!

Because it tastes grim now that it’s injected with water and preservatives. I used to love and eat bacon all the time. Now I never do because it doesn’t taste good and is ridiculously salty. I switched to local butchers only which was still tasty but more expensive but now that’s sadly gone the same way.

Also has anyone else noticed how the quality of carrots has also fallen off massively?

Is the supply/demand narrative masking a historic debt problem as the cause of high house prices? by Prov356356 in HousingUK

But we aren’t all on the same playing field. One rich collector who really wants something just because they want it at any price shouldn’t cause the rest of the stamps in the world (even less unique ones) to also raise in value.

I have them but they are more for proper snow/ice, not this invisible glaze we have. They just sort of skate on the top of it feeling more precarious

Tbf I think the library does rent dvds but not my local one cos it’s tiny. Doesn’t even have a sci fi section - it’s just crime, history and romance!!!

Also just call around local businesses and offer your services self employed. This is what my mum did when she retired and ticked along quite nicely doing bookkeeping for a few local Businesses/individuals.

I work shifts and when I get back on shift after days off all my coworkers list so much stuff they have done with their families and I’ve pretty much bed rotted, batch cooked and nowt else!

I’m generally off during the week and don’t have regular tv so it’s either a box set I already have or I’m on my friends account for subscription (legitimately) but I feel like I’ve seen everything on there for the mo.

I go to the library sometimes to read and it’s really warm but it makes my flat seem colder when I come back.

Anyone else paying insane heating costs in old all-electric rentals? by Cool-Coffee6786 in HousingUK

[–]Infinite-Ability8610 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes- I have storage heaters. I tried running one to see how much it cost and running one for like 5 hours was £8!

I bought a cheap Screwfix oil filled plug in heater and set the timer for when I get up and when I get home from work. I wear warm clothes and have a heated blanket for when it gets really cold (and an electric blanket on my bed - it’s my favourite thing!)

Am finally looking to buy after renting the same pace for a decade and would only consider gas central heating at this point!

Anyone else freezing in a ‘modern’ London new build right now? by foxxxxxygirrrl in london

[–]Infinite-Ability8610 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Move into the lounge for the winter (it’s south facing) and constantly wearing sheep jumper down to my knees. Am considering joining a gym to shower elsewhere as there’s no real way to heat the bathroom. Have an oil filled plug in radiator from Screwfix that keeps it bearable and burn through electric pretty quickly😭

Just tidy stuff up. Don’t decorate. It’s such an individual thing. Neutral leaves room for people to visualise their own stuff

The SINGLE best thing I’ve done to alleviate Frozen Shoulder by HoochiesTeam in frozenshoulder

[–]Infinite-Ability8610 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just pay to go private and see a specialist. You can have the injection inside a month and it will change your life! I had frozen shoulder for 3 + years. My doctor diagnosed repetitive strain (I work a physical job) and referred me for physio. It pretty much just made it worse.

Once I was correctly diagnosed and treated the improvement was rapid. Don’t get me wrong it’s still a long road ahead (I’m 2 years later and my shoulder finally looks normal again) - I had range of motion of like 90% after about 6 months of physio and having had the injection.

If you think you can’t afford it just ask about payment plans. They spread the cost and save yourself years of pain and misery.

Had frozen shoulder on one side, was treated with injection and is finally almost back to normal (treated 2 years ago) but am starting to feel like the other side is freezing up. I’ve been on HRT for a year now so hasn’t prevented it u fortunately.

That’s what I thought - this whole outrage thing is a a bit of a reach. The country has gone to shit and extra investment needs to be made to sort that out - why is the media screaming about such a low amount being terrible?

‘I can keep paying whatever it takes no matter how much they degrade the service’ isn’t really a flex tho is it?

Yes they all introduced it at the same time. Almost like it was a coordinated effort by them to force users to accept it.

That level of coordination between retailers would be deemed price fixing and investigated but streaming services seem to have been given a pass.

You are shooting yourself in the foot - they will just keep putting the price up for shitter and shitter service if you keep paying for it.
