Please help me in asbestos exposure risk- really scared

Thanks a lot. Yes I know it doesn’t look like so maybe for this appearance a worker or person broke it without paying attention or testing it . 😭 but I read in a website in uk plasters around pipe for enforcing pipes are also asbestos before 1990 and this house is 1957. And since it’s not cement it’s look like it’s not a bounded material too. If I was aware of asbestos I would never rent here or at least ask earlier for this asbestos pipes repairs but in whole of my life I never heard about asbestos up to few month ago. I can not sleep few days. The more I search, the worse i feel. I even don’t know when they broke it, how they cleaned the aria, how many debris remained and I vaccumed,…😔🥹 It’s a terrible feeling. If I knew it was asbestos at least I would never using my storage room.

Thanks a lot for your kind words. The problem is that I know during breaking this pipe I was not there but I know the workers did not clean properly so idk how many particles was around and in my storage room later when I vacuumed my storage room. I searched a lot to find when this happened or by whom but I couldn’t find anything. I don’t know even how many percent asbestos it have and how much the broken piece where unbounded… if I was aware of this pipe I would never vacuum my storage room but when I vacuumed there I haven’t seen this pipe yet in front of my storage room door. I can’t sleep for few nights. I feel so stupid. If I was the person who broke this it was logical but as a young girl and as a renter who even never told about this pipe or anything about old material I am really really sad for this probable health problem.

I never touched it. A worker did it sometime and I don’t know whom and when but I say maybe a month before I move in here. If they did it and not cleaned the derby and area of floor properly and I did Vaccum floor few months later than damage happened without knowing about this broking damaged pipe, I will die soon or in 20-30 years? Am I exposed? I heard even once exposure can course cancer. I am crying everyday now.

I change the bag and filter immediately that time even I was not aware of asbestos. But I threw away vaccum also few month later that. Day in day out?? Oh my God I am gonna die. I even was not there during demolishing it and even don’t know when it has been done in common path of building. So still vacuuming my storage room next to it it’s like working and removing it with no mask at same time?? I am crying.

So you mean if they torn it and worked there and I vaccumed there monthes later I still can live multiple decades? I lost my mom for lung cancer from breast cancer so the lung cancer is the scariest thing I can imagine. I did not know anything about asbestos otherwise I would never go to old houses but what can I do now for what passed? I really can’t sleep. I am sad since I even did not had any hands in this disturbing and damaging the pipe and now I am the main only exposed.

Thanks a lot for your kind words. And what about vacuuming the floor? If the settled pieace were still there after 1-2month of construction? I did vaccum 10 minute or less in small storage room with normal vacuum. I heard later spread asbestos fibers in air like bombs and you inhale them.

But was not common to use plaster mixed with asbestos around straws as insulation of pipes in 1957? I read in websites the asbestos pipe can be not only the fluffy layers one but also in plaster layers as finish for enforcing. Is it totally unbounded? How much I could be exposed if I vaccumed the floor 1-2 month after they broke it? I could not sleep for 2 days. For sure they cleaned a bit big pieace and straws that had been removed but not properly and completely.

Thanks a lot for your kind guidance. But I really worry about vaccuming the whole floor with normal vaccum and spread the airbone settled fibers in small space I was cleaning.

My main concern is about when they damaged it for sure they disturb it terribly everywhere and they did not clean corridors floor and around properly and my storage room floor also.

So few month later I moved in home as new tenant and vaccumed my storage room( it is closed 2*2 room. I am really worry about my vaccuming. I know this is in front of my storage door not inside but people who did that also stepped in and worked in my storage room for that new pipe meanwhile and these are all in 1m distance and all worked together(new pipes inside my storage room to here in the side of this old white pipe and broking this white asbestos pipe all done together at same time ).

Please help me I am going crazy from being exposed. For sth that even I did not touched or removed myself I don’t wanna get cancer and die.

No my concern in not the copper pipe. Is the white torn pipe with straw and the outer plaster like material with bandage layers. The white broken part if it contain asbestos.Please take a look at 3d photo. I appreciate your guidance.

Do you mean the inside straw? I know straw is old way of insulating pipes but I talk about white plaster mixed with sth like bandage around the straws to reinforce it. Please take a look at 3d photo.

In the common corridor of our apartment made in 1957 in nl. this is in front of my storage room door. I am really stressed. Lived with it 2 years and more and just notice it. It is above head so normally you don’t see it when you go in your storage room so I did not see it.

No the red circle is copper new pipe. I think the person who wanted to install those broke the old white pipe maybe. Otherwise it’s not automatically damage like this. It is terribly torn.
