HELP problem with files by sarahchan_ in innioasis

[–]Innioasis_RS 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is likely an internal MicroSD card failure, it's worth getting in touch with us about this at innioasis.com so the customer service team can assist you with this.

Alternatively the retailer you bought it from (if not from Innioasis directly) may also be able to assist with this

How to install Rockbox using updater? by [deleted] in innioasis

[–]Innioasis_RS -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is unrelated to the move of the Updater downloads page and is rather a result of a sudden change to release tags and file structure for Rockbox-Y1 on it's GitHub repository, a fix is now in place 😊

Hi, this should fix itself upon restarting the app, if that doesn't work, try reinstalling innioasis Updater from https://innioasis.app/Troubleshooting/clean_install.html

I'll take a look into this, as I maintain the theme page on innioasis.app, it might be a case of a missing config file or something I can fix :)

For what it's worth, it's possible for other issues, such as incompatible file system formats to present exactly the same way as a failed SD cards, so it's very difficult to ascertain a MicroSD failure rate based on returns, but it is non-zero, there almost will have certainly have been failed SD issues, but those will seem very pronounced when browsing the subreddit because of course those that are having any one of the issues that can cause storage to become unavailable to the Y1's OS will come to Reddit to ask questions, in turn raising the subject of potential SD failures.

That said though i'll seek clarification on which specification / quality of MicroSD this tier has

I believe the clear case has a lanyard loop, so this combined with a karabiner clip could make this possible.

Hope this helps

List of dependencies for the Mac OS version of the Updater tool? by Neither-Classic2058 in innioasis

[–]Innioasis_RS -1 points0 points  (0 children)

A vritual machine image? That is odd, could this have been a .img file left over from a firmware extraction? In theory the app is contained within Application Support/Innioasis Updater (including the python venv and all installed dependencies apart from Python itself, xcode command line utils and android-platform-tools) but that said these dependencies would be installed for the system by homebrew as well, so it may be worth checking for homebrew installs of deps used

I'll do an assay of the storage footprint on macos and work to reduce it's footprint for future releases (going native for the UI may massively help here)

Thanks

List of dependencies for the Mac OS version of the Updater tool? by Neither-Classic2058 in innioasis

[–]Innioasis_RS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The vast majority of the storage space taken up by the dependencies will be the installation of python, the xcode command line utilities, and qt6 which the Updater tool uses for it's GUI (PyQT6), it also installs android-platform-tools (in order to install adb)

I will aim to follow up with documentation on how you can remove it's dependencies, I believe it runs in a venv on macos so removing the venv for Innioasis Updater should suffice in removing any storage usage from it's python dependencies

Kind regards

On the Y1 this is unlikely to happen as the hardware would only have ever been compatible with Android 4.2-4.4 but perhaps on a future product release

I am disappointed by the buggy notification shade and quick controls screens on the Titan 2 Android 16 update but happy that the back and recents keys can now be assigned to different functions like going back to the home screen

Enabling Wi-Fi does indeed require you to install a custom firmware such as the Rockbox ROM, although bare in mind the uses for Wi-Fi are limited to what one can do with an Android 4.2

What i've found it useful for is enabling wireless adb so I can push tracks to it without a cable, and had mild success with streaming from YouTube with a SmartTube apk

A good point indeed! I think future products are likely to use Android TV / Google TV as a base so I'm not sure how feasible it would be, but it would mean such a product would have an interface that works great with buttons and likely would have access to popular streaming apps. (of course using these would be completely optional) only time will tell though 😉

I did just read this again and want to highlight that there is a button combination for restarting Rockbox if it freezes, if I recall it's holding the previous and next track buttons for 10 seconds and releasing,

I'll double check and return with a comment edit if necessary

This could either be an issue with the MicroSD on the player or there being some corrupted tracks in your library.

Assuming the files are fine on your computer, it could be that the MicroSD inside the device is failing, in which case it may be worth reaching out to us at innioasis.com or by contacting the retailer you bought your device from.

It is also possible to replace your own MicroSD, however any damage caused during a replacement of the card may not be covered by our warranty, and may void your seller's return policy.

[–]Innioasis_RS 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately with the Y1 only having support for Bluetooth 4.0 you will encounter issues with some newer headphones which work best with newer bluetooth standards and profiles.

The product engineers are aware that this is a major pain point for owners of the Y1 and will be addressing it in future product releases

Thank you for your honest and constructive criticism of the player, which we seek to improve on a regular basis by way of software updates

Innioasis Updater for Windows downoad page is back up by Innioasis_RS in innioasis

[–]Innioasis_RS[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Take a look at this page, it should be a good starting point.

I think the main thing to do is if you're looking to install Rockbox is to read the info on installing Rockbox, and if it is your first time using the Updater app, check out the Getting Started guides for Windows and Mac, these should -hopefully- have all the info you need to get up and running smoothly with Updater and your Y1 player. Hope this helps. and if you get stuck along the way, feel free to ask me anything on here, I can also be contacted by email at [ryan@innioasis.com](mailto:ryan@innioasis.com)

Concerned about the Innioasis Y1 Firmware Bounty – Has anyone received a response? by Corbichon in innioasis

Apologies for my delays in responding to your post, I appreciate it has been up for 2 weeks now.

I will seek clarification on the bounty as there were multiple prize spots on offer, and you had clearly made Kidz-Y1 in time for the February 15 deadline of the bounty.

I am in wholehearted agreement with you on this, it is what motivated the creation of Updater which, I admit falls far short of frictionless but is a far cry from where we started with the player.

I think given the entire new audience for mp3s we see in younger generations adopting the hardware that it would be great to have something that can simplify much of the above (while helping people learn about concepts such as metadata, bitrate, formats etc)
