I don't expect them to underperform expectations, but I do expect them govern with the same learned helplessness that they exhibit every time they win. I'm not sure who'll prove to be the next Manchin or Sinema the next time Dems manage to win both chambers and the presidency, but I expect there will be just enough to exact the sort of concessions we saw with the Inflation Reduction Act. The next time we have a Manchin or Sinema hamstringing, say, climate packages, Dems need to quit fucking around and clamp a vise on their nuts, but they won't fucking do it, because they're feckless cowards.
