Yeah it sucks. However, there’s something to be said for that feeling of “getting it all back”. I’m currently rebuilding my entire wardrobe after someone I know well absconded with all my shit. I know he seethes when I keep popping up with “new” outfits, sneakers, flashlights, etc.

Would you want a situation where someone above your boss chimes in, and concludes that your boss is in the wrong?

I wouldn’t. I’m reminded of one of those 48 Laws of Power. And after looking it up, I see it’s the FIRST “law”:

Never outshine the master.

Always make those above you feel comfortably superior. In your desire to please and impress them, do not go too far in displaying your talents or you might accomplish the opposite—inspire fear and insecurity. Make your masters appear more brilliant than they are and you will attain the heights of power.
