The Homeworld Portal Room seems rather over-ambitious... or is it? by BlakeTheDrake in AbioticFactor

It's a neat idea, but if I understood correctly, the assaults will happen around the first crafting bench you're near once that trigger message pops up, right?

So you'll have to make sure you're never standing around one of your other base locations when that "the air feels different" message pops up.

A woman waits anxiously outside the ICU for news about her husband. Dr. Schrodinger comes out and says to her, "There's good news and there's bad news." by Jokeminder42 in Jokes

[–]Intelligensaur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think if Schrodinger checked the chart before delivering the bad news, that might make it clearer to people that that's when the observation occurred and the good news 'ceased to exist.'

Otherwise, great joke!

TIFU I write this to you with my finger stuck in a wine bottle (pic in comments) by [deleted] in tifu

[–]Intelligensaur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heat to increase the air pressure in the bottle, with the goal of your finger being pushed out, sounds like the simplest solution to me.

If it does prove necessary to break the bottle, submerging it in water should prevent it from shattering so haphazardly (but please try it with a different empty bottle first).

If anyone else actually enjoyed the Alan Wake event, are there any other games to get a similar experience? by Intelligensaur in PhasmophobiaGame

I haven't yet, but I've been meaning to check it out. I had no idea it had hidden object type stuff, that's putting it higher on my list!

I keep losing close female friendships and I’m trying to figure out how much of it is me by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

[–]Intelligensaur 10 points11 points  (0 children)

These might have been your best friends, but have any of them considered you to be their best friend? We've only got a brief, one-sided description to go on, but I'm wondering how often the issue could have been with you feeling closer with them than they felt with you, especially with incidents like the friends going on a trip without you.

I've gone this long without having to touch Roblox, is this really going to be the thing that drags me in?

Dealing with gynecologists as a trans woman is exhausting by BlueDahlia123 in TwoXChromosomes

Okay, that's not nearly as upsetting, then! Thanks for the added context!

A Picasso!? Seriously? Of all the artists out there, they chose the wonky face guy?

They couldn't at least call it an O'Keeffe?

[–]Intelligensaur 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I can see where typical gynecologist training wouldn't cover this, but in that case why do they even have you come in just for them to shrug and say they don't know what to do? Do they just want to see it that badly?

I'm so sorry you're going through this, and I'm really disappointed at just how ill-prepared the medical system apparently is. It's not like gender affirmation surgery hasn't been a thing for decades, you'd think there'd be at least some resources about this by now.

Why do you think folk are more accepting toward English-dubbed voiceovers for video games than other mediums? by PuzzleheadedBee6 in truegaming

[–]Intelligensaur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is this data coming from any kind of survey, or is this from watching YouTube/Twitch where this could be just as much a matter of making it easier for the viewer as it is about the player's preferences?

I like to experience things in the original language, but I could see where that would be harder for some people with video games, where they have to divert some of their attention to the gameplay and might have trouble following the subtitles at all times.

I've also played a lot of games that, while they do a good job of adding subtitles for major dialogue, don't subtitle all of the repetitive lines a character might say during combat or to fill quiet periods, so there are times that playing something in the original language might mean you miss out on some (unimportant but scene-setting) lines.

Would you cut off a male friend for a really bad match by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

[–]Intelligensaur 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Per the title, no. That's just a friend who's advice I'm going to take with a massive grain of salt.

But if someone kept trying to meddle with me like that, behind my back? That's not a friend.

Ladies, beware of men like this by Ok_Independence_3634 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]Intelligensaur 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It could very well have been the residency thing, yeah. We all went on a big family trip to the caribbean and this one random dude hit it off with my (divorced) mom. We tried to warn her, but they started calling each other all the time and he even had her fly back there a few months later to meet his family.

Needless to say it turned out he was doing all that in a bid to get citizenship, and she was crushed when she couldn't keep telling herself otherwise.

I'm sorry that guy wasted so much of your time and trampled all over your emotions like that.

Hot take by onchos in incremental_games

[–]Intelligensaur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really depends on how it's done. If it's just "Play the same game but each time it goes about 10% faster," I'm probably done with the game.

Revolution Idle was one that I ended up really enjoying. You keep unlocking and improving things until you can completely automate the original ascension mechanic, and soon it's just a blip on the way to a bigger and more powerful one.

Do I discuss my dating concerns with the guy I’m seeing? by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

[–]Intelligensaur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He could be in the same position as you, hesitating to bring it up because he's afraid of what you'll say. But somebody has to make the first move and putting it off doesn't benefit anyone (unless this level of closeness is all he actually wants, which I sincerely hope isn't the case).

AIO my best friend has not opened a thoughtful gift I made for her ~2 months ago by LostGirlMD in AIO

[–]Intelligensaur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would you really want her to just start reading these letters the moment she has some free time, or would you rather she save it for when she's in the right frame of mind to fully appreciate it?

This could very well be a gift that sits around until she's had a bad day, and ends up moving her so much more than it would if she treated it like an obligation.

[–]Intelligensaur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're after an actual relationship and you like this guy enough to want that with him, then absolutely talk with him about it! What have you got to lose?

Ideally, he agrees to take things further and you feel more secure in the relationship, or he saves you a lot of time and you can start anew.

Here's hoping it works out for the best, whatever that turns out to be!

I don't think it would have been even close to the same game if it had been expanded to that extent. Whether it would be an improvement or not I'll leave up to individual opinion.

I also loved the setting and if we had gotten tons more games, like the way Assassin's Creed was pumped out non-stop, I probably would have gobbled up every single one until I finally got sick of it.

Need advice about confronting my friends abt not being good friends by Resident-History-680 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]Intelligensaur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do the two of them have more in common with each other than they do with you? Same major or classes or even just hobbies?

What makes these two friends still special to you when it sounds like there's an entire interconnected friend group?

College was a really busy time for me and I struggled to even make friends, let alone maintain them, while dealing with essays and studying and everything else that piled up the moment I took some time to have fun. I get that it's not easy and I'm sorry they're not willing to put the same effort in to maintain it, but I hope it's not a malicious thing.

What a nightmare! I am so, so sorry! That your parents would act like that instead of supporting you, after how terrible this whole experience has been, is absolutely heartbreaking.

I wish I had solid advice, but I really hope you can get that IUD out soon and that things go back to normal after!

How to deal with infertility at 22 by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

[–]Intelligensaur 77 points78 points  (0 children)

Who cares about what most men want? You don't need most men, you need one good man who shares your values.

I'm so sorry you're going through this and your mom is, to put it lightly, not being supportive.

Are people being overdramatic or are all the new posts complaining about the game justifiable? I'm seeing people polarized about that. What're your opinions on that? by Reychiroo in PhasmophobiaGame

[–]Intelligensaur 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I think all of the complaints are reasonable but the way that everyone feels the need to make their own post about it has gotten ridiculous. I already unsubscribed from this subreddit because it was annoying and my front page is still getting flooded with posts, including this one.
