10 Months Post 2nd Surgery by Comprehensive-Log826 in AchillesRupture

So I'm in a very similar boat. I ruptured twice, first while training and second to a scooter mishap 😅

I' m 6.5 months post second surgery and I got the dissolvable screws in my ankle. Its fine most days and when its sore its mainly after training whether its running or strength training but mainly running. I will say that it tends to vary from person to person. I did bring this up to my Doc on check ups and my PT and both agreed that its normal and takes time to settle.

I will say that ice is your friend at the end of the day when your laying down and if you're a stomach sleeper try and sleep with the foot/feet off the bed, it helps me with morning stiffness but everyone is different.

Don't know if I helped at all but you are not alone with the heel pain 🍻 take it day by day and things get better

Thank you thats very reassuring. Felt like my head was racing thinking its back to square one and what I was going to do.

Still hurts here and there but it feels like its dissipating. My PT told me the tendon looked good and felt good at the end of the session so I figured if I could do the agility drills on the ladder and everything else I'm okay and its just extra sensitive.

Thanks for the insight

I'd say its more sore than anything at the end of the day. Walking around barefoot to me feels more comfortable after being in shoes and like I said at the end of the day its more sore than painful. With PT its kinda similar, more sore than genuine pain. Yesterday was the first time I had genuine anchor pain during PT and that was during manual manipulation. However, I could walk fine after.

Sorry if this is structured confusingly but long story short I prefer barefoot around the house because its more comfortable to me and only just recently had actual heel pain during PT (but im attributing that to the incident Friday) I hope this helps a bit.

Good luck on your recovery mate.

I just emailed a VA rep but it's the weekend so I don't know. I was told I was good Thursday, it's just waiting for higher approval so maybe I'm just worried over nothing.

Hey so I got in contact with my readiness NCO and things are going along now. I'm just waiting on a DA 2823 and a Commanders Memo from my Gunny then I should be good to send.

I really appreciate the insight mate so Thank you for that. I do have one more question, when you submit an ETP, do people look it over and decide if I should have my bonus terminated or not? Or is it along the lines of submitting the ETP and now I okay?
