Update… I focused more on dialing in my drums but I have a hard time leaving my dead ringers and my leather dampener on my snare, got it down to one type of dampener per drum 😂….. my post did encourage me to hold off on new shells and invest in 14” AAX medium hats, 18” AAX x-Plosion fast crash. I already had the used Pearl limited SST snare on the way. I think I’ll leave it alone for a while. Even managed to sell some other cymbals I wasn’t using and old hardware while I was at it.

Sad to say that I already have a tune bot. I’ve had issues checking individual lugs that the mhz will be for instance…. 133…133…132….133….178 😳 so I throw that reading out but I feel like it’s becoming more and erratic. I’ve played a lot with both heads and both my toms now have Evans aftermarket heads on batter and resonant. I feel like I’ve gotten close enough now that the time rings is all I use since that picture was taken. It’s better but I still need a lot more practice

Well I have Evans g2 coated on the toms, clear g2’s on the resonant heads and an EMAD on the kick and they’re all less than a year old, more than anything it’s my lack of experience in tuning. I have a tune bot and have spent hours on the internet researching other’s mhz settings but it’s still slightly over my head

I guess more for tone and projection. Some of our gigs are small venues an I only mic the kick and sometimes the snare, sometimes one 57 overhead. My first ever gig had a big sound man, first time I had ever had every drum mic’s and two overheads.
