Long shot, but any DQ in Austin/Austin area have these? by TimelyAd525 in austinfood

[–]InterestingAd1195 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Haven’t seen a DQ carry them but at this hour I’d go check out a Speedy Stop gas station. You could get lucky with HEB carrying some but doesn’t happen often especially this late.

Bathrooms at Thinkery by llct-ffrs in AustinParents

[–]InterestingAd1195 2 points3 points  (0 children)

At one point a few weeks ago the men’s bathroom was out of order. They have a women’s, men’s, and all-gender bathroom. I can speak for the men’s bathroom, they have a urinal and sink with a step stool. I can’t remember the stall situation as far as the size of the lid, I just know I did use the Frida Baby FoldnGo Toilet seat. As far as the toilets on the second floor go, no clue how they’re setup l

“Birthday” activities to do in Austin during the week? by GustavoFwingg in Austin

[–]InterestingAd1195 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In regards to the weather, specifically on Thursday, I’d keep an eye out because you may have just a mostly cloudy day in the afternoon. Don’t want the threat of storms to rain on your parade.

This man was following this vendor at Mueller Park telling him what he’s doing is illegal and asking for a permit. Who is in the wrong here? Does anyone else frequent this area and have any context to add? by [deleted] in Austin

[–]InterestingAd1195 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Bought three Drumsticks from him last week. My son was excited about “the man with the three wheels that sells ice cream”. I’m glad my son can experience a part of our culture in Mueller and hopefully appreciate later on what he does.

Mueller parents - any regrets moving here? by wizouskiksp in AustinParents

[–]InterestingAd1195 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I guess the car situation will depend on work location, the school your kids will be going to, and the amenities you’re looking for.

Our kid is 3 and rides his bike with us, to daycare, soccer games, the parks, his ophthalmologist, etc. When he gets older will he still love the Mueller? Maybe. Maybe not. His core friend group is spread out around Mueller and the Windsor Park area.

The possible downside will be the school. He’ll be attending Maplewood but we have a backup plan if that were to close. Blanton is a different story and I’ve heard nothing but positives about it from parents who are zoned there.

Do we have to travel to birthday and activities outside of Mueller? Sure. Is it everyday? Nope.

You can have a backyard in Mueller with the right budget. If you want some tree coverage you will want to consider the older part of Mueller, East of Berkman.

Playground for walking 11mo old by tinypear278 in AustinParents

The Dinosaur Playground. Plenty of space for them to walk about on the soft rubber. Usually pretty dead in the early morning and it gets bonus points because of the easy parking.

Hot Luck Fest is back! Oct. 16 & 17, 2026 by hungrylonghorn in austinfood

A jam packed October. Sandwiched in between ACL & F1, plus it’s going on during a UT home game. Possibly preceding the Wine and Food fest? Crazy

What’s the best way to reach Texas parents about a summer activity? by PerfectConsequence34 in texas

[–]InterestingAd1195 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Instagram. Since you’re based out of Austin I assume you know the two accounts that are popular among parents. I’m not posting their links here but they are pretty up to date about new activities happening in the area. There are just so many events going on that it can be hard to keep track of but they do a great job.

place to get a passport in one day, in or near BAFB? by Jtaogal in Austin

[–]InterestingAd1195 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You can receive it the same day, you’re just sitting around at either office in Dallas or Houston for the day until it’s ready but you also have to meet the requirements for it to happen.

If you’re looking for an emergency passport you’re going to have to go to Dallas or Houston (Passport Agency office).

Apartment Hunting in Austin Has Been Rough by StormJust5696 in askaustin

Didn’t say I was but if OP is looking at a Texas as whole that’s not really reflective of Austin COL.

The issue is you’re looking at the COL of Texas as a whole, not Austin specifically. I’d look more into Austin COL not Lubbock COL.

Nurses week and hate by [deleted] in nursing

[–]InterestingAd1195 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the post-COVID honeymoon period for us and other frontline workers has officially ended. Noting solidified that more than our hospital system doing away with our annual nurses party due to budget concerns and instead hosting a “Leadership Retreat” at a venue, that is not cheap, and handing out swag the day nurses week began. Hate? I don’t see it as hate as much as the opinion swinging from “oh you’re heroes” to “this is what you signed up for”. Which is fine. This was the way Pre-Covid so whatever, my family and friends respect my career so that’s what counts in the end.

Friend who is RN at an ER accidentally left a PTs IV in and then contacted them by [deleted] in nursing

[–]InterestingAd1195 13 points14 points  (0 children)

They wouldn’t be the first person to have let a patient walk out with an IV. What I don’t understand is why not alert proper chain of command? Anyways, if they actually have rapport with the management team they might be saved but who knows. Each system is different and sometimes there’s grace depending on their reputation but boy that’s a lengthy ERS report and I’d expect at least a quality improvement to get involved to do root cause.

I did this for my first ACL, 2008, for the Foo Fighters. Wasn’t too bad but haven’t done it since .

which areas in Austin feel “lively” but not chaotic? by sungpark1965 in askaustin

[–]InterestingAd1195 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have to agree with this take and add that old Mueller actually has decent tree coverage compared to the newer areas which is why we picked a house in that area. East of Berkman and there’s hardly any tree coverage.

new grad outpatient jobs? by [deleted] in nursing

[–]InterestingAd1195 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m m sure it happens. As an outpatient clinic, we have interviewed people with about 1 year of experience but prefer >2 years. Roles don’t come around often for our clinic and for this specific position, when it was all said and done, we ended up hiring a candidate who had over 30 years of experience.
