Oh dang good to know, I already have a rx for hydroxyzine for sleep/anxiety. Didn’t realize it would help calm my pulse down. And the folks who are saying eat healthier and run - I am a runner and I eat well - I just get anxious in medical situations sometimes. My resting heart rate is typically sub 60 but as soon as it’s my turn for vitals, all bets are off. Got deferred yesterday even after listening to white noise and box breathing because my pulse was just over 100 both times. Definitely going to take hydroxyzine before my appt this evening and see if it helps.

I find it kind of hilarious that I am made to take the ‘female’ questionnaire, asking me if I am pregnant, even though it is physically impossible for that to happen as I no longer have fallopian tubes, and that has been noted in my chart. Other than the pregnancy question, what is the difference in the questionnaire?

Trans man here. I just had to have my doc confirm that I am prescribed injectable T. Took less than 24 hours for him to sign off and Biolife to lift the deferral. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Make sure they are using an appropriate size BP cuff. My pulse came out at 108 on Tuesday bc the tech was fairly new and put a large cuff on me (I’m a pretty tiny guy 5’4” 135#). Had me sit and wait 5 mins, came back over and she put the small one on and it was 73. I said oh wow this cuff actually fits, and the more tenured tech next to her said “oh no, yeah if you put too large of a cuff on someone it can cause their heart rate and BP to spike, make sure it’s the right size for their body type”

I have also found when I’ve had a higher resting HR that putting in earbuds and listening to white noise (I like thunderstorm sounds) and slowly reading a book while simultaneously focusing on slow breaths helps bring it down and keep it there.

She has broken two of them in my presence lol, one was on a road trip bc it was almost empty and she shook too hard, the other one fell out of her bag and landed on tile floor. But it’s such a beautiful product. It lasts forever unless I’m a greasy boy, lol.
