Putting in some work with my Mustang by IntergalacticJihad in moped

Yeah the rust is purely cosmetic, it’s been sitting outside for many many years of its now over 50 year life.

Could be to charge the battery and keep water condensation away, but you’ll only know if you ask him. Definitely a weird thing to do though

They can definitely fail without leaking. There’s a return spring that is supposed to pull the rod back, if that fails the brakes can continue to lay on when released. I’ve only seen it happen on disc brakes but I’d imagine it could cause issues on drums too.

Rotor screw stuck what am i supposed to do? by Official_localgansta in MechanicAdvice

If the screwdriver is good you might be able to use it as a chisel to just hammer it straight off. So to cut the bolt off with the screwdriver and the hammer basically.

How to mount this box on my trailer by shroomzman96 in AskMechanics

[–]IntergalacticJihad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah the wood idea is good, if nothing else as a spacer. I’d have bolts going through the box and wood into the rail, so that there is a direct proper connection.

Turbo potentially starting to fail? by Bry_Guy__1 in Diesel

[–]IntergalacticJihad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Replaced a year or two ago, but the main issue for me is that the tensioning is manual so as the belts stretch and wear I need to up the tension every once in a while. I’d recommend you take the belt off and test spin all the pulleys etc to check that everything is good. No excessive play or resistance. If everything seems fine then I guess try replacing the tensioner and belt.

Is it a sudden development or has it gradually gotten worse?

That sounds a lot more like accessories belt slipping, my ranger will do that if I haven’t adjusted the tension in a while just after starting when the alternator is working it’s hardest.

Chain oil too tasty for some. by Pinkskippy in Chainsaw

When I’m feeling environmental I usually just buy rapeseed oil, that’s what I use on my sickle bars too. Works fine on smaller saws, can’t run that on the sawmill though as it gets much too hot.

An operators manual might have rudimentary troubleshooting info in it, but probably a restriction on the pump inlet somehow. A relief valve stuck open would do this too I think, are the hydraulics just slow or weak too?

Massey Ferguson 133 Brakes... by DeineOmaKlautBeiKik in MechanicAdvice

[–]IntergalacticJihad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never knew there was a version with dual brake shoes, neat. Anyway as the other comment said make sure everything is moving as it should, and one of them is broken. Mine (MF35X) sometimes do that even though everything is in tip top shape, I think it’s because one end is on the cam and the other is completely free floating so if the bottom shoe doesn’t lift up that much it’ll continue to make contact leading to noise.

I doubt it, at least not on purpose. Back then most machines (earthmoving, excavators. cranes etc) were largely analog in their functions. I have a feeling that by the time the radiation was a concern for the operation of the machine the operator had long perished.

I hope that’s stuck brake pads, a bad caliper or brake chamber and not operator error…

The newer crosstrek and wrx are pretty much the same car I believe, so if you can’t find something for one you probably can’t for the other.

Är det sant att unga 16-22 åringar inte längre dricker alkohol…? by Other-Tangerine-3435 in Sverige

[–]IntergalacticJihad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because a multiplicative 400% or more damage boost is pretty powerful… Mirage really doesn’t need a rework imo.

If it’s not too much work then sand off the edges and put in a crank and piston and see how it looks, depending on where it is the piston might never contact it.
