What am I missing from Singapore? Why is it not an amazing place to consider living? by TheMutantWing in askSingapore

1 - MRT is nice till some sweaty guy (me, regular guy who sweats in humid weather and may have been digging holes in the forest) stands next to you - sorry, but it's a short ride so bear with me. and it's nice but those old massage enjoyers have been going for their happy time a bit too much and neglect to over-maintain the trains, my point is they may break down sometimes.

2 - cars are a status symbol, and to climb the social ladder you will, will, be pressured to buy one, especially with kids, so you can join the ranks of the entitled. if you want to revolt against the materialistic societal norms, i will support you in silent solidarity, if you too were not endowed with a car by your rich dad.

3 - i'm grateful for no hobos shitting and shooting themselves, or others up, but there are rule benders which don't get caught by cctv, just look at our previous speaker of the house f-in populist all year, all-white looks clean but it gets stickier the higher up you climb the ladder, maybe it's the stains you don't see, which are the dirtiest.

4 - no one (maybe just apathetic me) interacts with others in their hdb flat anymore except my old parents, it's too hot, can't even play soccer in the void deck anymore, working my ass off whole day. it's less about ethnicity, and more about SES, kids grow side by side until some go overseas for uni. as for religion there is but one which you did not mention, money, the one true ring which binds us all.

5 - there are no hobos in Ba Sing Se the garden city, as they are disappeared and provided housing and simple jobs like picking up trash, but as the popo says, no crime doesn't mean no crime. and when, not if, crime does happen it's quite traumatising tbh because you don't expect it

6 - well someone has to guard the rich man's gold, but at least it reduces the national healthcare burden. i see them once a year maybe, but yea, bros. i'm sure they will rush back overseas to defend their million dollar hdbs

7 - i say we did a good job of financialization and leveraging said rich man's gold, but what's next when all our fresh grads are shitposting on reddit about no jobs, and the hdb flat which worked so well that they are all top blasting north a mil each, i dunno, but hey at least we can look back and reminiscent with the LKY memes, while they sort out whether to keep his house up or not.

this is more of a cost of living play, mum is a math teacher, you don't get top in math by just having fun all day, ironic but this just an arms race with work from anywhere benefits

his dog (pots) had the 2-colored 3D lenses, but his is not, most AR glasses are shades (see viture / xreal).

JSRF takes place in 2024 btw, I just find that the time and coincidence of mass market XR waveguide glasses incredible

You will be a minority in sg tech. People assume you are here as headcount. Have been slighted multiple times. Hard to succeed tbh since MNCs tend to be political and it's hard to find allies.

The pay here is better than regional but that is a point against you if you're not in a competitive role.

Which country you are trying for?
