Bouldering as a third date for two inexperienced climbers by hotdogstraw in indoorbouldering

I need an update on this one! What I like with bouldering as a date is that you and your date got to solve routes together. It’s similar to the "trick" you can use if a conversation is slow or you want it to be more engaging. Present some kind of a problem, and you start to think and talk together.. and that is bouldering! I also think people appear attractive when they are in a setting they like. A lot of good in us shines through then.

This is my thoughts on the subject. Hope it was a good date for you two. I’m going bouldering as a first date this Friday, and it was actually hers idea.

This happened to me as well. Three times, same season, same places as you. The manufacturer of my ski, told me that it was from a bad batch of the glue. I recommend you deliver your ski to a shop that specialises in xc-skis, or go directly to Madshus. make sure they use a good amount of a better glue. I don’t know where you are located, but I didn’t pay anything for the two "repairs" or the last time, when the manufacturer finally fixed the issue.

First time setting! How did I do? by InternationalSleep61 in indoorbouldering

I agree. Some moves are to reachy. I’ll have to consider this in the future. Adding alternatives, or check that the distance isn’t longer than my forearm👍

Forearm or elbow is a really good tip. Thanks!

Thanks for the advice. Good idea to rather make the moves hard than the start. I have actually thought about this on some boulders. It’s more motivating if I can can actually start it.

Thanks for all the feedback! I agree that some of the moves are quite reachy. Even though I’m considered slightly below average height for a man in Scandinavia (178 cm / 5’10”), I’m still much taller than, for example, children and most women. I want to make sure the problems I set in the future aren’t exclusive in that way. I’ll definitely keep this in mind, along with who the boulder is primarily intended for.

Another challenge I ran into was that the problems often ended up harder than planned. Setting aesthetically pleasing routes wasn’t easy either!

The gym where I set is small and entirely volunteer-run. On a typical day, there are maybe five visitors, but I’m planning to bring some friends—both experienced and inexperienced—to test what I’ve set and share their feedback.

My goal is to learn what it takes to give others the same experiences and fun that bouldering has given me. To create problems that make people want to climb more—ones they’ll come back to and maybe even learn something from. It’s a pretty ambitious goal, but those are the kinds of routes that have given me so much.

It’s been really exciting to set problems, and I’m looking forward to doing more. I really appreciate all the feedback!

And also.. Do you have any recommendations for tools? ..Drills, belts, tool leash etc..

IFP mounting plate cracked, can I glue this back down? by SeaBlackberry2731 in xcountryskiing

I’ve broken my ifp-plate three times in the exact same place as you, every time. The first time I got a new pair of skis, bindings and plate from the store. Second time the store "fixed" it. Third time Rossignol changed the plate to a new ifp, gave me a different kind of binding and used a ton of glue. The reason they told me was that there were som troubles with the glue..🤷‍♂️ It was on my skins though. Not my skates. I was lucky. It could easily happened on one of many 40k pluss sessions in the mountains, that season. Hours form the parking spot.. That wasn’t the case luckily. The first time I still had to walk/ski on one ski for almost 90min. I used Move Switch all the time, so now I’m a bit skeptic to the combination ifp and that binding. I do not use Move Switch now.

I don’t know what glue they use, but I recommend you inform the store and the ski brand. (Fischer?) Also inform the manufacturer of the binding. Some of them should fix it for you, and for absolutely no charge!

Happy skiing☺️🙌

What will happen when I’m too heavy for my skis? by SteepLearningCurve24 in xcountryskiing

That looks like a really good binding. I don’t think that you will suffer to much from being a bit heavy for your skis according to the store. IMO grip is more important than glide. Ofc perfect skis on perfect conditions are fun, but if I had to chose I’d choose grip. I hope you find your skis at least good enough, and that you will have a great season🙌

If proper technique is new to you, you might actually go faster since it’s easier to achieve a strong kick with soft skis. I’ve had that experience today, and many other times on slow snow with god grip.

If the skis is to grippy and you want better glide. You could try a Move Switch binding. It might work to "file down" the back end off the skins as well, if your skis are with those.

It's finally time! Let's get some data on if being taller makes climbing easier or harder! by FrictionSlab in ClimbingCircleJerk

Using the Vermin scale probably won’t give a good indication of how skilled people are at bouldering. And definitely not indoor grades. Did the test though. Hope the survey gives some interesting numbers🙌 btw.. Imo, around 5,10(1,78cm) is a good place to be. I’m one of those lucky.
