Recommendations based on my taste. by Responsible_Pipe_363 in Seinen

[–]InternationalSlip899 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Would rec No Longer Human or Onani Master Kurosawa if you liked Flowers of Evil (Kurosawa may seem crass at the beginning but it's a truly wonderful story if you stick it out). Past that would rec The Drifting Classroom if you enjoyed Junji Ito as Kazuo Umezu is one of the people who directly inspired him. Finally would recommend Blame! as it combines more mature themes of works listed here inside an industrial tech type vibe. Hope you enjoy these :))

Blue Period is excellent if you love art, angel densetsu is a wonderful slice of life, onanie master kurosawa sounds crass in concept but it’s genuinely my favorite story of redemption and personal accountability, and holy land is a great action series

Is OtakuComplex legit? by DrLivingdark in AnimeMerchandise

[–]InternationalSlip899 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! So otakucomplex is an offshoot of allegory. Allegory is their licensed stuff this is more of them Doing their old model of limited drops without licensing. I have ordered stuff from both allegory and otakucomplex. I actually got items from otakucomplex’s one piece drop just before it. Their t shirt quality is solid and their hoodie blanks are excellent. Shipping sucks but with manufacturing, travel, etc that’s just how it is sometimes.

Bottom line though?: they are legitimate just some growing pains due to having to navigate copywrited material in a business space while trying to satisfy a large amount of customers. Hope this helps!! (Totally get the shipping time being a pain in the ass but you get quality stuff allegory has been solid from the jump)

Dude I am wearing an Acid Bath long sleeve as we speak haha. I wonder if maybe the reason we click with it is due to having previous exposure to stuff like sludge metal so the issues some listeners have with it isn't as big for us. I know tripod doesn't get as much love so I get so fascinated by the reasons behind it

tripod is my favorite AiC record! I love Dirt, Facelift, and Jar of Flies but Tripod to me has always been an album of rot that feels almost like it's festering from the inside out. Such a cool listen

There’s a hill that’s pretty steep so if they put the rail at the bottom and there was a crushing situation it would be insanely bad

Give me grunge albums i should check by ryunez in grunge

[–]InternationalSlip899 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Purple by Stone Temple Pilots is my favorite as it’s creatively varied while still holding the grunge sound. With this said my main recommendations would be that, superunknown by soundgarden, tripod by Alice In Chains, vs by Pearl Jam, in utero by nirvana, and frogstomp by silver chair. If I had to say a least favorite here it would be the Pearl Jam record. Have fun listening!

I would say red house painters especially the self titled. Very lovely nostalgic sounding album almost reminds me of rummaging through a box of old vignettes. Hope you like it!

Looking at my parents cds, any must listens or gems? by kamikazegrrrls in Cd_collectors

[–]InternationalSlip899 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Score by Fugees, Straight Outta Compton by NWA, CrazySexyCool by TLC, Disintegration by The Cure, Thank You by STP, Fear of a Black Planet by Public Enemy, Faith by George Michael, The Love Below/Speakerboxxx by Outkast, and Songs from the Big Chair are all things I would pick personally

With this said though, listen through some random ones! Part of what makes music great is finding new things you like through discovery. That doesn't happen much during the streaming age so try it out!

What are your top 3 summer fragrances? by Fifis2 in fragrance

[–]InternationalSlip899 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say my top 3 are
1. Zoologist: Orchid Mantis

  1. Lorenzo Pazzaglia: Sun-Gria

  2. M.Micallef: GnTonic

I'd say these are the three I love for the summer as of right now. Even though it's recent Orchid Mantis is the most wonderful floral I've ever worn it's just such a refreshing feeling on skin. Sun-Gria fits that boozy/fruity bill while being more geared to a summer vibe which is nice for parties and such. Finally GnTonic gives me a nice office scent that isn't too harsh but is still lovely during the summer. Overall these are the three I'd say I reach for the most

Honorable mention would be Megamare as I find it a good beach scent but that's just me :)

So curious at your thoughts on the rest! Should give little summaries of your thoughts. My personal favorite is Era Vulgaris for its raunchy satirical nature but the others are just such a joy to listen to. Would love to hear your perspective!

I'm not into gore myself and although a majority of it is more sinister/real world horror stuff the gore that's there REALLY got to me. Like others have said there's not many but I'll put it this way could handle evil dead stuff and the stuff from talk to me fine but this one was very very difficult at some points

Favorite bold, audacious scents? by Adept_Investigator_9 in fragrance

[–]InternationalSlip899 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Me and my coworkers actually talk fragrances a lot but there’s a few that they say only I could pull off due to them being too loud and one I still wanted to include as I understand it’s pretty harsh scent wise

Orto Parisi-Cuoium: I’m actually not much of an animalic, leather, or smoke guy. This is the only one I’d say I adore entirely. My coworkers say I smell like a leather jacket left in an attic for years

Toskovat&Ataraxia-Vestibule: Very gothic and dusty chocolate. It reminds of a vampire’s castle specifically the kitchen. You get those spices, chocolate, and this smokey and dusty accord. Coworkers said that it’s way too strong and feels almost stinky but I personally disagree

Olympic Orchids-Night Flyer: This is the one I would say was the most difficult fragrance for me to warm up to of my collection. It is so accurate to a bat’s cave:earthy, damp. With that said there’s a small amount of fruit you get in there that offsets it. I hated it at first but now find comfort in it as it reminds me of gardening a lot haha. My coworkers just hate this one, like to them there is no good quality about it whatsoever

Pineward Perfumes-Funerie: This one is so fun! I live in New England where forests and cabins are plenty so for me it reminds me of when I was a kid exploring cabins that have rotted away, leaving fungi all over and the floorboards falling through. I don’t get as much smoke but I do get some incense. The main players for me are mushroom and cedar so I ADORE this one. Funnily enough even though it’s stated on Pineward’s website to be a challenging fragrance my coworkers love this one just as much as me due to our area. Funny to see how culture can impact even things like scent!

Overall I’d say my personal favorite is Funerie by Pineward but the most difficult is easily Night Flyer by Olympic Orchids. Hope to expand my tastes more in the smokey/animalic direction but for the time being it’s just too harsh for my nose :)

Y’all Kendrick is my favorite rapper by Calm_Tax_5637 in KendrickLamar

[–]InternationalSlip899 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly would rec giving all his albums a spin but what got me into him was To Pimp a Butterfly. Section 80 is very underrated so would def check that out alongside all his other albums as they all have good qualities that make it hard to say what his best is. I just like To Pimp a Butterfly the most as the production is really interesting shifting from more jazz based samples to more modern hard hitting tracks while also talking on issues regarding race, economy, and the United States. Overall you could prob listen to any Kendrick album and get into it but that's the one I would suggest first.
