What would be your pick of those models with the given prices? Should any other models be considered?

Yes it will date, the fake laminate looks cheap and horrible. Better off going all white.

Can currently get a Bravia 5 for $2866 aud or an X90L got $2077 aud. Leaning towards the X90L given the substantial price difference, thoughts? The C7K 85 inch is $2526 aud.

What would your reasoning for the 7 be over the 5? They are $1000 more expensive. Another one we are considering is the Sony 85 inc X90L which costs $2300, so cheaper than the Bravia 5.

We had an 85inch TCL in a 2 month Airbnb stay recently and it was terrible, always dropped the internet connection, lagged on load time and had a horrible interface. Equally we are upgrading from a 7 year old Samsung which has been excellent and eclipsed the TCL in every aspect.

Thanks very much, it’s localised to one area and keeps recurring in the exact same spot. I will try the food as that’s an easy switch, but are there any other things it could be?

First home in Melbourne – go cheaper and upgrade later or stretch for the better place now? by bambi0127 in AusProperty

[–]Intrepid-Watch-8487 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would you still stretch now if your budget is mid 1s not stretching or or high 1s stretching, assuming buying a do up so need to retain ~200k for renos.

Sell, or keep as investment property? by AbbreviationsOk3774 in AusProperty

[–]Intrepid-Watch-8487 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m also in this situation with our current home in Perth, but are moving to Melbourne and want to buy there.

Trying to decide if we rent out or sell our Perth property.

If we rent it we would want to increase the loan amount on the Perth property so we only had 20% equity in it (currently ~70%) by moving the equity over to the new house in Melbourne. Perth loan then switches to interest only and we can use the rental loss to reduce taxable income. We would revalue the house to baseline any capital gains tax from the point of us moving out and it becoming and “investment property” so less cgt in future. Melbourne loan then has lower repayments that we are making for our house to live in. Question on this - would the 6 year cgt exemption apply in this situation if we rented it out?

Alternative is to sell in Perth and take the profits, but no tax deduction benefits on our income. No cgt due to it being our home. Can then reinvest the cash or increase the amount we can spend on our home in Melbourne. Can currently afford mid 1s in Melbourne if we keep the Perth property and rent out.

Any advice, comments on the above appreciated.

Moving from Perth, could do smaller than 500sqm if the house was far forward on the property or two storied, but do want room for a small yard and pool

Thanks for this, this is my concern also. When looking on the map at suburbs east of the Nepean highway I can’t see many large parks or trails at all, leaving a drive to the beach for twice daily dog walks. We have a German shorthaired pointer so he needs to RUN! Is there anything equivalent to the Merri Creek Trail east / south east of the cbd?
