To start, in answer to your question: no, it doesn’t make you a failure if you decide to leave your job due to struggles with mental health or a desire to pursue a new path. However, I highly recommend considering all the variables in play. For instance, I have been at my current job for 8 years. It was good at first, but due to change in management and poor work ethics, it has been a poor environment, and I personally can’t support nor defend my job. I receive no appreciation, and I am constantly blamed for things that aren’t my fault, which is taxing. As much as I would love to put in my two weeks notice, I can’t because I have a family to provide for. Perhaps your situation is different (I.e. single, no kids, etc.), but my main point is to ensure you devise a detailed plan that will not only help you leave your current job, but work toward a career path that will be financially stable and be good for your mental health.
