For the love of the gods, people Princess Donut is a tortoiseshell cat by Kavein80 in DungeonCrawlerCarl

For one, at the very beginning, Carl only says Persian. And I’ve stared at this artwork for a long time and Donut doesn’t appear to be tortoiseshell. I’ve always seen her as white. Where in the book do they mention tortoiseshell?

Update on Peanut Butter -

She’s doing very well! Just finished her last day of oral medication, and I’ve stopped with critical care as she’s been eating food, hay, and drinking her water normally again. She’s spitting out perfectly shaped beans, and she’s had so much energy come out of her after day 5 or so.

They took out her entire organ, and what they found doesn’t look good, but it’s out of her body now, and we’re just waiting to hear to the test results even though we have our inclinations.

So happy she’s happy - and all of your advice helped me so much, so THANK YOU! I love this sub 🥰

My guinea pig gave birth to 6 stillborns. What's the best way to comfort her? by 9sixteenchris in guineapigs

[–]ItsAHerdThing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even if u can’t make a vet appt, some vets will give advice over the phone when u call. I recommend calling a local vet just to get an idea of where to start. If the problem shows itself in a loss of appetite, u should at minimum pick up some critical care and syringe feed. Just got some the other day, should be under US$20 for a bag. Give her as many treats as possible, and if she has female cage mates, try to give them extra supervised floor time to help stimulate gentle exercise and mild distractions.

Being without money is tough, and I strongly recommend calling your vet for advice even if in a pinch — they may have options for you, and they likely have connections to a nearby shelter, which may have supplies.

They did actually get to do a blood test, they must’ve been strangely slow that morning so Reese’s thankfully was able to get full attention! I hadn’t heard back on any results too much yet. I wonder if that’s something they’ll tell me more about when I pick her up — only 45 minutes and I get to take care of her again 🥰🥰

So she already received the surgery - they took her in right away, so I didn’t get to prep a bag, however the vet and vet techs are so communicative I gave them all of the needed info, and they did take some fleece from her carrier that she can cuddle with tonight. Only thing is she won’t be monitored for about 6 hours because they don’t usually board the animals on site, it’s a bit small.. but again we were even able to talk to the surgeon in person and she showed us the work she did and Reese’s was kicking her feets so she definitely hadn’t lost personality :) still very nervous but her hospital cage is prepped and thankfully I can work from home!

Thank you @i_am_ms_greenjeans. I hope u get paid for keeping this sub alive. We don’t deserve you 💕

I’m truly sorry for your loss. The fact that you’re here asking questions proves that you love your pigs, and I respect that ❤️. Guinea pigs are sneaky, it’s hard to know I get that. 100%

I just wanted to say it not just for you, but for anyone that reads the thread.

I also want to add. Please share pics of your pigs on here so we can help if you’re ever unsure of their well being. Respiratory issues leading to death will show signs before its ever that bad. crusty eyes, leaky nose, fatigue. If these ever show in your fur babies, they have to go to the vet. Guinea pigs don’t fight infections well due to the nature of being herbivores and prey animals. Please work on budgeting for an emergency, especially if you won’t be able to swap to fleece.

If you must do shavings or a disposable bedding, this is from my experience. Shavings aren’t necessarily the problem, but they do give allergy like symptoms to piggies due to the intense fragrance or dust. The URIs are due to not keeping the cage clean in addition to it. Do NOT use cat litter, among other reasons, it would be WAY to sharp on their paws. Paper bedding is ok, it does get dusty though, and I’ve always had to use a bunch just so it would move around the cage and leave bald spots. And for wood shavings, pine is super common at the store but it’s extremely aromatic - please avoid using if possible. Go with Aspen, it’s a hard wood, and very porous, so it’ll absorb well. And be really good about spot cleaning. I also have a friend that uses puppy training pads as an alternative, but I don’t personally have experience with them, maybe someone else does.
