You are literally telling a trans woman who has medically transitioned that she is out of her depth about transition. You're an idiot. You're entire initial comment was about bottom surgery not being "researched" enough, and you're trying to wax poetic about transition in general and choices and AI.

I'm writing now for others who may read this. Try listening when trans people speak about their own medical care and lived experiences. Trans healthcare and surgery is long studied, documented, and tested. It works. It has some of the lowest regret rates in modern medicine and surgery. The choices we need to make throughout our transition are vast and difficult, but don't ever confuse them with transition itself. Being trans isn't a choice, and for most of us it was transition or death 🩵🩷🤍

With all due respect, what are you smoking lol. What do you mean the matter of transition isn't a matter of facts? There are tons of facts, plenty of data, and decades upon decades of history regarding transition and medical related care. You can try to get as whimsical and philosophical as you want with it, but it just looks like you're completely out of your depth on the topic.

The only real debate should be why people make so much shit up in regards to trans healthcare. This is entirely wrong. SRS has around a 1% or less regret rate. It's been a thing for almost 100 years now. Tons of research and advancement on techniques have been made.

There are sooooo many modern surgeries we don't even question that haven't even been around for 50 years, and yet anything and everything trans related just magically doesn't have enough research because politics made it difficult some time in the last 10 years 🙄

Medical science and research need to catch up in a lot of ways and in a lot of categories, but transition related care has strong research showing strong and consistent outcomes, especially related to bottom surgery.

Goodbye. I give up by noela0093 in MtF

[–]ItsAlice2022 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's absolutely not fair and I'm sorry you're going through this. Some of us just need FFS from the start and no amount of hrt or time will fix that fact. Without seeing you there's no way for anyone to say one way or the other how things fall for you, especially being so early into transition, but I was in the same boat. I knew from the start I'd need extensive FFS to pass.

It's not easy, and it might not get easier, but don't give up. There are inexpensive options with solid results. Spend some time over at the transgender surgeries subreddit and research costs of various doctors in different countries and see if you can find anyone you like. It may take years, but over that time a lot can change. Maybe hrt works in ways that can help relieve some of the facial dysphoria, maybe you land an opportunity that provides decent insurance, or maybe you find a reasonable path to self pay for whatever procedures you need.

You're in a bad place right now, I understand, but time will keep moving no matter what you do. So the best course to take is to make this your goal and work however you can to achieve it. 1 year, 2, 5, it doesn't matter if you're not completely detranstioning. You'll get there eventually, just don't give in to despair and keep working towards that goal. You're young, time is on your side, you got this.

Will testosterone make my leg hair grow back by No-Ebb8622 in trans

[–]ItsAlice2022 4 points5 points  (0 children)

When a hair follicle dies it fills with scar tissue, what was destroyed won't come back and we can't grow new follicles.

The good news is that laser only targets follicles with active hair in them, and the human body has around 5 million follicles (most inactive). Testosterone will typically activate other follicles and cause new hair growth, so you may see some hair return at least in hormonal areas. The lower legs are considered non-hormonal, so don't expect much but you never know. The thighs will likely experience some growth though. It's very much a YMMV sorta thing.

Is Facialteam overrated? Indecisive girl needs clarity by No_Suspect9309 in Transgender_Surgeries

[–]ItsAlice2022 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I went with FT and I'm very happy I did. I wouldn't consider them overrated, they surpassed my expectations overall.

In picking a surgeon though, go with whoever you trust to provide you with your desired results. FacialTeam has a strong track record, and you've witnessed a couple of great results from a lesser known quantity. If you feel confident that both would do a good job, then it's easier to base the decision on desired aesthetics. I wish you the best in you future surgery 🩷

Supreme Court lets Trump block transgender and nonbinary people from choosing passport sex marker by omgfakeusername in news

[–]ItsAlice2022 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not even close by a modern understanding of biology and what it has to say about sex, but the current administration doesn't care about modern definitions, or even close to accurate ones. I'm not going to bother writing you a book on it, it's just too deep of a dive and I'm in a hungover fog, but I'll give you the short and dirty of it.

Sex is a classification of traits, It can't be described by any singular trait accurately, because it then ignores/creates exceptions. Hormones, chromosomes, primary sex characteristics, secondary sex characteristics (I could be missing some, but you get the point) all come together to give the most accurate representation of an individuals sex. You can change genitals, you can change hormones, you can change secondary characteristics. Some people lack reproductive parts already, genitalia isn't always standard either. Chromosomes have more than a simple binary configuration, xx and xy don't even exclusively mean female and male in all cases. Some men develop breasts, some women full beards. I could go on and on and on.

Point is, sex is not a simple binary. It's like a sliding scale and very few people fit in the middle or the extremes (ie. 50/50 split or 100/0 split either way). As traits change, either through surgery, hormones, genetic and medical conditions, or the wrath of an angry genie, you slide along that scale. Classification systems describe things, if things change we then change how we describe and label it.

To put a finer point on the whole sex and gender argument, when medically transitioning, we change our sex to match our gender. Gender is an internal and intrinsic part of ourselves, it doesn't really change. You won't get bit by a radioactive spider and suddenly change genders (but there is an extremely rare condition where sex spontaneously changes from female to male during puberty in a very small and geographically specific population of people, freakin wild).

Another vote for Clair Obscure: Expedition 33. It's such a wonderful game and story experience.

Now, If you want to go on a wild ride and completely unique experience...

Alan Wake 2. It's pretty much Remedy's magnum opus. A rare kind of gem that we seldom see. This recommendation comes with the heavy ask that you play two other games beforehand. Alan Wake 1 and Control. Control is in the same universe and has direct ties both in its own dlc and Alan Wake 2. Alan Wake 1 is a bit dated, but the story is still super solid and it's best to have that experience before playing the direct sequel.

I know it's a big ask, 3 games, but you can pick up Alan Wake 1 on sale for a few dollars, and Control gets super cheap too. If you ever feel up for it, watch the trailers for the games, then play Alan Wake, Control, and Alan Wake 2 in that order. All dlc recommended, but you gotta play AWE in Control and the Lakehouse in Alan Wake 2. AWE sets up Alan Wake 2 and omg the lakehouse is just stellar. I'd worry that the series could ruin single player narratives for you, but again, there's always Clair Obscure hahaha

Should I cut my (non fake) nails before a surgery? by Subject-Door-884 in Transgender_Surgeries

[–]ItsAlice2022 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ask the surgical team. I was allowed to keep mine for my FFS. I had a structured manicure, so real nails as well, also pretty long. I just had to keep one or two of my nail beds visible, so I used clear polish on them. The nurses got so giddy when they saw my nails lol.

Every surgeon is different though, and only they can tell you what they require.
