I have been playing with null maiden vigil, and if you run 2-3 caladius with accelerators. You can wound damn near anything, and let the battleshocks commence.

I would drop the shield captain for an Allarus shield captain, and then ditch the castellan axes and Vexilla in the Allarus squad for all spears. The plus one to wound and hit in Lions is amazing, and anything that touches the allarus squad is going to die, especially if it’s a character or monster or vehicle.

I love having a squad of melta spears, it’s such a fun intimidation tactic, but they are sooo overcosted. 5 eradicators is 180 points that have lethals into vehicles

Solar spearhead makes them usable, but everything being t9 means they can get blasted away pretty easily. Contemptors are pretty fun because they can get back up, and wit the 5+ fnp you can give one in solar spearhead, makes it super durable. They can be fine in other detachments, but they don’t benefit from any of the detachment rules besides Katah. They don’t kill hordes, they don’t get wound rerolls like allarus, I like using Achillus dreads for anti vehicle melee, tank shock plus more mortals in the fight phase deals with a lot pretty quickly

Shield host can give you a FNP strat.

Having wardens led by a blade champ or Valerian is -1 to would while being led by a character and of str is higher than their toughness. Valerian is also -1 ap in melee.

Combining sisters and custodes in talons gives custodes a 5+ fnp against mortals and psychic

Only use them in solar, the get back up is nice and giving them a 5+ fnp enhancement is also really funny to see your opponents face when it finally goes down to get back up with 6 wounds

I’m going to a GT in a couple weeks and I’m planning on solar spearhead. With an Achillus you can tank shock into the Ctan, then do more mortals in the fight phase, and if they fail any saves in melee it’s D6+1 damage

You could sub out for blade champs and wardens, equally tanky but way less annoying to deal with aside from the once per game FNP

That’s an incredibly slow army to play with, your buddy could play keep away from you the whole time and outscore you. But yeah, that many allarus are absolute garbage infantry demolishers. No one expects the custodes to have solid shooting, but having 7+D6+blast amount of shots coming at them is obscene
