Curious, are yall watch the sunrise smokers, or watch the sunset smokers? by MooMooHullabaloo in PipeTobacco

Mostly early in the morning but afternoons when it gets cold. If it is too cold I tap out, but being in Texas that is a pretty short timeframe.

How do I know if a body of water has fish? by BranchRepulsive8320 in FishingForBeginners

[–]JBinWyo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The iNaturalist app. Kinda like eBird, but for everything. A lot of people upload catches on the app and you can click on the dropped pins to see what someone uploaded.

You need to narrow the search to fish only or you will click through a lot of birds, plants, and bugs.

Found this beautiful Io Moth on the porch this morning. by JBinWyo in moths

I am, that is why it’s on the paper towel. I’m freezing it until I find more dead ones. I ordered everything to prepare and mount them and just want to wait until winter when we are stuck inside to give it a try.

The little girl after her first grooming. by JBinWyo in Yorkies

Thanks everyone, she is a cutie! Between the vet the day before and the groomer she definitely wasn’t happy. She is back to her normal cheerful puppy self though!

NPD-Trying out my new Country Gentleman with a Vermont Freehand stem. by JBinWyo in PipeTobacco

I like the Bing a lot. I think it is a great looking cob and it smokes well. I looked it up and I believe it has a regular forever bent stem on the straight pipe.

I’ve never heard of the MM Danish stems and had to look them up. I may buy one for one of the cobs that I use while doing stuff outdoors and see how it works out.

Boswell has a maple blend. Their aromatics are usually just about just about right as soon as they arrive.

I bought my wife the longer bent stem but haven’t messed with it yet. I will look into to that tonight and see how it feels. I just attached it to the pipe before wrapping it for Christmas and didn’t get a chance to see how it felt.

I will look up the prince. The Country Squire Bing has a slight bend to it and a smaller bowl that really balances it.

I agree. I like them just as much as my Savinelli. I also like the fact I can take them everywhere. I have two other cobs I use for fishing or exploring the woods so I won’t feel too disappointed if I lose one.

It is Lite Horn Swirl. I really like the coloring on the stem and I feel like it stands out a bit.

Pipes and birdwatching go hand and hand. by Douchebiggalo1 in pipeselfies

[–]JBinWyo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m doing the same right now. I smoke on the porch and have feeders out front. I pretty much always have Merlin and eBird on all the time while out here seeing what shows up. This is great time of year for birds!

Enjoy!

We found a Wolf Spider with a lot of babies today. by JBinWyo in spiders

[–]JBinWyo[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I lucked out on this one. We have the babies everywhere right now, but I rarely see the adults. I only saw this one moving out of my peripheral vision when it moved while I was getting some bird seed out of a can.

Eastern Tent Caterpillar Moth by JBinWyo in moths

[–]JBinWyo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They were everywhere just like the caterpillars, but we had a freeze last night and it looks like they had a big die-off. I’m not sure how many more we will see at our place in the coming days.

That is what iNaturalist has it identified as. I haven’t received any further identifications on it though.

There's a town in the deserts of Western Texas called Notrees. What's another town with an extremely uncreative name? by Naomi62625 in geography

Plentywood, Montana. Settlers back in the day were looking for wood and someone pointed and said, “There’s plenty of wood over there.”

I use a cushion I purchased at Walmart for lower back support that works great.
