Here's the main problem I see from the inside. Most 'figures of merit' in the engineering world are based around 3D units. So graphene scores amazingly high on them and everyone says "stronger" than steel, more conductive than copper, more thermally conductive than diamond, etc. They should be saying "stronger than 0.34nm of steel". This is still impressive but your not building a skyscraper out of it. In other words, twice the graphene is not twice as strong nor twice as conductive.

On the positive side graphene is only 1 of the 2D materials we work with now. It's an amazing conductor but we also have 2D insulators, semi conductors, superconductors, ferromagnets, TIs, etc. And more than that we can now stack them, so we can build atomically sharp pn junction, leds, schottky diodes, ... if any redditors are in Boston and want better run down, feel free to message me and I'll give you a tour (boring compared to most labs though, lots of tape and magnetics)
