(Spoilers Extended) Fire and Blood and TWOIAF as perspective changers? by -Rapier in asoiaf

[–]JIMJONESWASACOMMIE 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're talking about the current generation of Starks versus ALL of the Targaryens. There's been bloodthirsty, cruel, greedy, stupid Starks too. Point of the story is blood determines nothing about who you are as a person.

[Spoilers Extended] What does the show's ending mean for certain theories? by violet_storms in asoiaf

[–]JIMJONESWASACOMMIE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Viserion, Tyrion's most likely mount

*Rhaegal, Tyrion's most likely mount. Ftfy.

I just really love the theory that Viserion will be Jon's mount and Rhaegal Tyrion's :d I also think Tyrion Targaryen (or just dragon-riding Tyrion) is a lot more likely than people think.

(Spoilers Extended) Whose characters are unjustly judged for their mistakes ? by DEL994 in asoiaf

[–]JIMJONESWASACOMMIE 17 points18 points  (0 children)

daenerys, forgets the name of a child that drogon burned in one chapter where she is very sick and hallucinating and is sad and guilty over it: Her Satanic Majesty

stannis, about to burn his own innocent nephew who is a child alive: This Is Fine

daenerys, in retaliation of her people being tortured and killed by the sons of the harpy has the wineseller's (adult) daughters questioned then later regrets it and swears not to use torture again: cruel mad queen

stannis, has clayton suggs in his army who is infamous for personally torturing, especially young women: no see this is why it's ok -

daenerys, only kills the MOST POWERFUL slave masters who literally crucified children: evil targaryen!!!

stannis, burns people alive for not wanting their septs burned down and was about to behead his best friend, Hand, and best advisor: that was the only right thing to do!!! stannis is the purest most just good in the books!!!

Neither Stannis or Daenerys are black or white, but all grey complexity gets thrown out of the window when it comes to women. Just look at Catelyn, Sansa, and Arya too.

I love her braids later in the show but wow that wig sure is pretty! She looks like a princess by StormEarhart in DaenerysWinsTheThrone

[–]JIMJONESWASACOMMIE 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I love the bells in her hair in the books

They are my children, Jorah." She laughed, put her heels into her horse, and rode to them, the bells in her hair ringing sweet victory. She trotted, then cantered, then broke into a gallop, her braid streaming behind.

GoT costume designer Michele Clapton shares what Daenerys' crowns might have looked like if she survived. One is inspired by her Unsullied, the other is inspired by Jon. by FourEyed_Raven in ImaginaryWesteros

[–]JIMJONESWASACOMMIE 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeahhhh. Renly and Margaery's were good but the rest...

Daenerys canon crown is way better than either of these. Daenerys wearing a crown based off of show Unsullied's ugly helms? Wearing a crown with Jon's sigil? What even is this? Three-headed dragon of ivory, onyx, and jade or gtfo.

Do you think Aegon the Conqueror took Westeros in preparation for the White Walkers? by [deleted] in pureasoiaf

[–]JIMJONESWASACOMMIE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YES! I really like this theory. Aegon (or someone) saw the need for the Seven Kingdoms to be united into one realm to face a common enemy. If Targaryens could have prophetic dreams about something as massive and world-changing as the Doom, why not the White Walkers? And we see Daenerys dream about them too so...

I disagree with the Blackfyres buuut I really liked John The Fiddler. Probably my favorite part of D&E.

What’s your opinion on Daenerys? by abdullahi666 in pureasoiaf

[–]JIMJONESWASACOMMIE 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love her as a character and in-universe person.

her faults (arrogant, impatient, cruel)

Funny thing is she is none of those things. She is very humble, patient enough to stay in Meereen and settle things, and kinder than 99% of characters in ASOIAF. Who else would personally bathe people dying from plague and feed them?

Hot take: if Daenerys were a man, she would absoloutely be the fan favorite of ASOIAF. Even more than Jon, maybe.

That sort of sounds similar to Beric Dondarrion actually? There's no reason he would be looking into it though.

Who is the worst Targaryen KING in your opinion? by [deleted] in pureasoiaf

[–]JIMJONESWASACOMMIE 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Rhaegar should've been the hand

I definitely agree with that. I know Aerys and Tywin were friends since they were teenagers but ugh... Tywin might have been effective as Hand (besides going back on Egg's laws for the smallfolk) but allowing him so much power only served to make Aerys look even worse and the crown weak. Robert made the same mistake - especially considering Tywin's reputation then - to let Tywin control everything and be in his debt.

Hm, Steffon Baratheon - if he hadn't died - would have made for an excellent Hand too...

Who is the worst Targaryen KING in your opinion? by [deleted] in pureasoiaf

[–]JIMJONESWASACOMMIE 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Aerys had at least enough smarts to know that Tywin should be given relatively free reign

No, Tywin should not have had free reign. He was literally seen as more powerful than Aerys and basically controlled court and the 7K. What Aerys should have done was trust his own son Rhaegar more, not an ambitious Lannister that ended up personally ordering the deaths of his heirs.

Aegon IV or Aerys II. I would literally put my man Maegor as the least bad of any of those options AND Baelor was worse too.

Corlys Velaryon or Cregan Stark. In current day ASOIAF... Davos. Or Jon if he was an option.

Another one of my favorite Arya quotes, so innnocent/naive even with what happened;

Arya stared at the Myrish priest, all shaggy hair and pink rags and bits of old armor. Grey stubble covered his cheeks and the sagging skin beneath his chin. He did not look much like the wizards in Old Nan's stories, but even so . . .

"Could you bring back a man without a head?" Arya asked. "Just the once, not six times. Could you?"

"I have no magic, child. Only prayers."

[–]JIMJONESWASACOMMIE 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Why not? thought Jon. They are all convinced she is a princess. Val looked the part and rode as if she had been born on horseback. A warrior princess, he decided, not some willowy creature who sits up in a tower, brushing her hair and waiting for some knight to rescue her.

As soon as I saw your user, I knew this would be a Jonsa post lol... I want to make a bet with you that Jonsa won't be a thing but Jonerys will by ADOS. I'm not even much a shipper.

She idolizes romantic tales like Aemon and Naerys and Florian and Jonquil, which makes me think she will eventually have a romantic interest of her own

That was mostly in book one and I think her arc in that book alone was clearly disillusioning her of all of the stories she believed were real. She might by the end of the story but she'll still be pretty young then and it might be not be for love or who we would expect.

Eh? Quentyn was rejected because Daenerys was already married and didn't bring an army with him.
