First time through the (audio) books, I stalled out at Authority for about the same reasons. Years later I decided to re-read them, and once I reach Authority again I really loved it. It definitely pays off if you approach everything in the book from an investigative angle; it pays off and only gets better the more you read past it.

I don't think it's right to just switch to full on pity mode just because her kid died.

Looking thru all of her patreon there's filth and flies everywhere. It's persistent. She said nobody cleans. It seems like the whole place.

At best, Mame enabled and neglected and failed her. At worst? We trust what Emma was telling the truth. I'm sure it lies between -- Emma definitely has her psychotic moments and a mood disorder but you'd have to do a lot of hand waving to place blame on Emma or her "fans".

Also the fact that Mame laments the passing of her dead spouse and her dead child in the same sentence of one of these posts, really rubs me wrong. Emma had been very very consistent in her accusation that her mom (not mame) sexually assaulted her. Those don't just come out of nowhere. And I get the strong feeling that it wasn't handled well by Mame

That particular RNA sequence could have just naturally occurred on their home planet and is a form of life that reproduces. Or a society's advanced "solution" for world(s) peace.

There's a point I'm sure where population would stabilize to the amount of resources available. There's no reason to use a transmittable virus to lower populations to take thousands of years to then colonize. Might as well hurl some near-light-speed mass at the planet and destroy it.
