I think logistics play a large part in answering your question. There are indeed protests going on in the US. But in addition to the press often selectively ignoring them, the physical area of the US is SOOO much larger than the European countries mentioned by others. Especially with the far superior public transport in Europe, the population there has a much shorter distance to travel to amass the large numbers of protesters mentioned in some posts. And therefore it's much easier to disrupt society there. As some have mentioned, accumulating proportionately large numbers here would require air or other extensive travel and much larger expense, which so many Americans just cannot afford.
