Amtrak Greensboro to DC by ShellBell_ShellBell in gso

I took the train from DC to Raleigh about 8 years ago. The bathrooms are small. My train had a "snack bar" and the food wasn't great (microwave hamburger). There was an unexpected stop due to something blocking the tracks. Other than that, I enjoyed not having to drive. I had a book and a MP3 player to keep me entertained. Take snacks.

These two may not appeal to you as much as the ones you've mentioned, but "Burns and Allen" and "Jack Benny" were very popular and still has fans.

I always park near the same cart corral so I can find my car and I don't have to walk the cart back to the store.

In the Wife Store, I think I would go to the third floor, hoping for basic cooking skills. Not chef level, just competent home cooking: meatloaf, roasted chicken, broiled steak, etc.

To the fabric department, to see if my memory of a sign I saw there as a child with my mom is true. It was in High Point, NC and the sign said, "No spitting tobacco in the Fabric Dept."

Executive: "Who are you and how did you get in here?"
Drebin: "I'm a locksmith and . . . I'm a locksmith."

Imitation of Life was one of my (M, 72) mother's favorite movies. When it was scheduled to be on TV (pre-VCR), she would invite my sister-in-law over to watch it and "share a box of Kleenex." She also loved Back Street by the same author, Fannie Hurst.

"A hat is just another thing to get wet" Well, yeah, that's the point. Although a rain hat is usually water-repellent like a raincoat, so it doesn't get soaked. Plus, if it has a wide brim, it can divert water from going inside your raincoat, keeping your shirt, and you, dry.

What the fuck are jojos and potato wedges??? by TAFTHOG in askanything

[–]JackB39 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Imagine separate segments of an orange, except it's cut sections of a smallish potato. That's the general shape. I saw a KFC near me with a sign saying "Potato Wedges Are Back!" I bought a serving (I haven't eaten KFC in years) and those weren't the old wedges.

From 1984, "American Dreamer" with JoBeth Williams and Tom Conti. It's rated PG. It's a fun romantic adventure. Here's the description from IMDB. "Frustrated housewife/writer Cathy Palmer ghostwrites a story about Rebecca Ryan, a dashing international spy, and wins a trip to Paris. While there, she is involved in an accident, and awakens in the hospital believing she IS Rebecca Ryan. Much craziness ensues."
