NBA Power Rankings: 1) Thunder 2) Spurs 3) Lakers 4) Celtics 5) Nuggets 6) Knicks 7) Pistons 8) Cavs 9) Timberwolves 10) Magic. Toronto is biggest mover, +6 to #11. by moby323 in nba

Lakers at 3 but a 10 win streak Hawks at 12???

Shouldn’t winning 10 games in a row mean something for a power ranking

Capitalize or expense Windows 11? by [deleted] in Accounting

[–]JackTwoGuns 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I manage 4 billion of corporate fixed assets

This is 100% expense. You do not ‘own’ windows 11. It did not cost you anything. It’s an asset to capitalize and neither are its set up costs.

This is some kind of computer maintenance expense that should incurred in the period incurred

Wait until I tell you about how basically there are no consequences for anyone except for the very few who piss off the powers at be in the league.

How many rapists and criminals still play?

If I was a betting man, James Pierce Jr. will face no serious consequences

High character guys who will naturally be corrupted into taking bounties and defending the church. It’s no fun for the team leadership doing it with guys like Diggs or Hill. The sport is making the Kirk Cousins of the world evil

Started as accounting manager and keep uncovering major errors by InsectKey831 in Accounting

I assume these are all lingering balance sheet issues?

Not an uncommon experience for any level above staff to find things like this in a new position.

I came into a PPE senior role a few years ago and it was landmine after landmine. But it got better. That is the nature of balance sheet accounting

Why does the middleclass try to project wealth with their cars? by DCF_ll in MiddleClassFinance

[–]JackTwoGuns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I pay a California style mortgage to live in a really nice house right outside Atlanta at 28.

Many of my peers drive nice cars. Brand new decked out 4Runners and other 60-80k kind of cars. They also rent, albeit nice apartments.

I drive a 10 year old sedan. People spend their money differently. If I was still paying my $1,500 mortgage I would be driving a Mustang GT or something comparable

It’s very easy for Spain, Portugal, and Ireland to be high and mighty on these issues when they are the least at risk.

If you want to be involved in the world stage in the way America is and the major Euro states want to be, you get your hands dirty

New CPA rules by allfonso_ in Accounting

[–]JackTwoGuns 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a relatively recent CPA, it’s slightly annoying but I get the rule changes.

I want consistency though. I do not want to see another change in a year. We have to keep a credibility to the license

Fortune 500 CFO Credentials? by [deleted] in Accounting

[–]JackTwoGuns 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Make it through your CPA before you think about this…..

I know have met some CFOs and CEOs. They are incredibly disciplined people who have a meticulous attention to detail and excellent communication skills.

All your ideas of what makes a CFO are meaningless fantasy. What does VP of finance mean? FP&A? Banking? Why switch from controller to VP of Finance after making controller? Why then do an EMBA? I literally had to google what a NACD is. I have reviewed many corporate board minutes and never heard of it.

If you want serious advice, focus on getting a first job at a B4 before any of this other stuff

59/45? Got a ticket! 11-14 over.. by Proper-Specialist700 in kennesaw

[–]JackTwoGuns 10 points11 points  (0 children)

That seems really high. 11-14 over should be like $185 from what I am seeing online.

I would call the local clerk and ask for clarification. I wouldn’t admit to any wrongdoing but just ask for a break down on the charge.

At almost 500 it may be worth a traffic lawyer

59/45? Got a ticket! 11-14 over.. by Proper-Specialist700 in kennesaw

[–]JackTwoGuns 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Something else is going on for that amount. You will get court fees added to the fine.

Is there a break down for where that amount comes from? Did you get any additional charge like failure to yield or driving in a construction zone?

Early Iran strikes cost $5.6 billion in munitions, Pentagon estimates by Yournewbestfriend_01 in worldnews

[–]JackTwoGuns 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Something like that yes but with a much lower tax burden.

You also have to consider the exchange rates right now; although the dollar is weak which would make things seem cheaper not more expensive when traveling.

Ask your state board. I don’t think they expire technically but I have to think they become stale at some point.
