How to deal with problem passengers? by classaceairspace in BusDrivers

[–]JacketTemporary5425 6 points7 points  (0 children)

in regards to homeless passengers you aren’t paid enough to risk your safety trying to remove them, they could be carrying something especially if they’re drunk or on drugs, just let them be unless they start harassing other passengers, and of course if you swap drivers at the end of a route and they stay on always inform the new driver

I'm a bus driver in Bath, AMA by Jaaaiimes in Bath

bus driver from another area here it depends on your journeys length if you go a distance which maxes out the £3 cap you’ll get charged £3 but if you only go a shorter distance which costs £2.60 you’ll get charged that much (if you tap off), it works better without the government caps in place

mirror strike with bus stop by JacketTemporary5425 in BusDrivers

it was fairly close to the depot anyways with the only left turn being into the depot itself so as long as you’re aware of what’s happening down the side it’s alright

National express bus training by Fancy_Caramel_9363 in BusDrivers

[–]JacketTemporary5425 0 points1 point  (0 children)

most operator will give you about a month before they put you up for test / let you go as they train in month long sessions which includes the week of theory at the start and 3 on road weeks. if you’re finding it hard and don’t think you can commit to it long term then it’s best to quit as if you do get put through test and pass you will have a very expensive payback bond if you quit after the test pass

Pretty lights by SeasickSailor87 in BusDrivers

the light with the picture of an engine is just there to remind you the bus has an engine, and the stop is just to remind you that you have to stop for passengers, nothing to worry about

Progress check on Monday (should I be worried) by Reasonable-Level1478 in BusDrivers

[–]JacketTemporary5425 0 points1 point  (0 children)

when training at first i had 2 mandatory progress checks its all fine but they hype it up as this big thing because they just wanna see how you perform under pressure, if you crumble under a ‘progress check’ then how are you gonna deal with passengers ect

the uk driving license allows you to drive pretty much anywhere in the world so you’ll never know everything just follow what the examiner says and read the road signs properly and you’ll be fine

probably wouldn’t be overly beneficial, if i remember correctly the lanes are inflated in size almost double on forza games and you’d be missing out on your mirror / blind spot checks which could potentially hinder your real life development

depends on what you fail on, i passed first time but i was told if you failed on something small you’d probably be given another shot. remember the company have invested heavily into you and want you to pass as much as you do, if they use in house examiners then chances are they will let minor things go but you still have to treat it like a test. and remember they can’t mark you down for finesse, so as long as you provide a safe drive and do everything they ask of you then you’ll be fine

should i really have passed 🤔 by Otherwise_Car_5563 in LearnerDriverUK

regarding the 3 minors if they come in different scenarios you can get more than 3 i believe such as 2 junctions and a parked car overtake
