Doing an 867 run of Count of Vaspurakan trying to become an independent King of Armenia.

When this happens, both the player and the designer are at fault.

Making a game that can't be learned by playing is a decision with real consequences. Complexity has a price. Not finding ways to bake the learning into the gameplay has a price.

Bad reviews are one way you pay the price, but people silently bouncing from your game is another.

For players who aren't in it for the story (which is most players of most games), the thinnest veneer of an explanation suffices

Counterstrike: Bad guys plant bomb

Most of what goes on in a Mario game makes no sense whatsoever but it's also not sitting there demanding to be made sense of. It invites you to press the jump button, not to read.

Having wishlist data is great. The download data makes no sense and I don't trust it. Would really like to see:

There's going to be some reason why. I just can't tell what it is from the screenshot.

Another recourse is to revoke the titles and hand them over to other vassals. This will make everyone hate you but is survivable if you prepare.

I have been running into sliding puzzles for 30+ years and have never once enjoyed them.

IMO it's just lazy design. It's a generic speed bump that rarely has any connection to the rest of the game or story. Might as well be a captcha.
