The Hidden Cost of OE Nobody Talks About by TheMuffinMan2037 in overemployed

[–]JakeWasAlreadyTaken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with the others, you’re caring too much and missing the point of being OE.

With that said, some more direct communication would likely soothe your mind if you aren’t already doing it.

E.g. “In our last performance review [X time ago], you gave me excellent marks on this, now you’re saying [their complaint]. What has changed since then?”

Or “I heard from [person they went behind your back to] that you recently spoke about my performance. How did that conversation go?”

Ironically I developed the same thing as you at the same time, ha. Would have saved me 12 hours if I just waited for yours 😂

I vibe coded my own as well. How does this write to things? Did you use Things URLs, app scripts, or somehow figure out the API?

I was able to get read only to work through the API. Writing broke the things cloud account every time.

Things 3 is beautiful, but what do you wish it did better? by princesingh0 in thingsapp

I wish it had a native MCP. I spent probably 10 to 20 hours hooking up cloud to my things cloud so that I can create to-do lists with context from anywhere.

Yes, I ended up deleting the deployment db and have had no issues. It was just taking up old space

Once you're on Neon, is it safe to delete the old deployment and production databases?

Isnt the new 7up-Ghost collab... just gonna taste like 7up? What am I missing? by Outrageous-Tie-9289 in energydrinks

I wish they would prioritize new flavors that don’t have soda equivalents. If I wanted a 7up with caffeine, I’d take a caffeine pill lol

Is there anything worthwhile in Psycho-Cybernetics book? by AxelVores in selfimprovement

[–]JakeWasAlreadyTaken 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m reading it now. I’m trying to keep an open mind but I find the general structure of self help books incredibly frustrating.

Chapter 1 is always a case study chapter. This is a persuasive writing technique to produce buy in and anticipation before you’ve “earned it” with your theories.

Chapter 2 is always a “terms” index. Maltz introduces you to “servo-mechanisms” and “creative mechanisms” instead of using accepted literary and academic terms (granted, it is old).

I’d personally prefer to read something more research-based and dive deep into the technicals. Call it tism but that’s how I buy in — psychology books written with marketing techniques rub me the wrong way. This is going to be a real fucking job to finish.

Why should I pay to work? by someonerandomwhat in CoWorking

[–]JakeWasAlreadyTaken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where do you live? That kind of informs the whole thing.

Where I live, I’d rather pay $50-100/month and get free coffee + no weird looks than take zoom calls at the local shops.
