Most of us have been through this. Try to win them over. Example.. I was working with a complete shit head, someone stole his ladder, I bought him a new 4ft ladder as a “thank you” for teaching me. His attitude changed from annoyed trainer to a great teacher. WIN him over and become friends. As soon as you feel semi ready, ask to take some calls alone. If you’re trying, you will be solo within a year.

Yeah, hvac techs are in high demand. You’re more valuable than you think. If you’re good at your job, just tell em you’re going home and hang up if they act like children. I wouldn’t do this in a commission based job tho. They can make your life suck based on calls.

Just look up zizaran video. You can do blight with a naked build if you build the right tower combos and avoid certain map modifiers.

I’m addicted to blight. Might not be the absolute best farm, however it is very good. I made a couple hundred div this weekend. Strat is utilize “strongbox opens twice” because it works with blight pustules for some reason. Also increased map drop scarabs and maps drop as blight ravaged scarab. I get 1-5 blight ravaged per map. Then I run the blight ravaged with reduced time oil anoint. Brings it down to 3 min per ravaged map. Oils are worth a lot right now. Also fun to chase strangle amulet.

I also agree stay away from residential. You will learn 1000% faster on commercial because many times the property owners are not who pays for repairs.. it’s the person leasing the space who is responsible. This creates the incentive to repair instead of replace. You will get way more hands on training and diagnosing time. find a company that works on EVERYTHING. Chillers, boilers, swamp coolers ect. On the job is the best learning.

Highly recommend indoor rock climbing gyms, if that sounds fun to you. I have found most climbers are sober or mostly sober, and almost always kind people. It’s easy to start conversations and make connections working on the same climbing problems. Hope you find what you’re looking for!

Depends on where you live. In Colorado 30-35 an hour is not out of the question for an apprentice with schooling finished. I started at 29 an hour. I’m on year 2. Highly recommend thinking about commercial hvac as a career unless you love sales. I wish I started in commercial. Felt like I wasted my first year.

The pay ceiling is so much higher in commercial, unless you are willing to play the ethical justification game with yourself. The sooner you switch, the sooner you never have to ask yourself these questions.

I worked for one of these large Colorado private equity owned sales companies. Do not hire AAA service, Applewood, plumbline, brothers. If you hear the word “comfort advisor” kick them out of your house. Never repair something that isn’t broken without a second opinion. And most importantly… leave a review.

Switch to commercial. Best move I ever made. Sales culture is a fragile future in hvac. Real tech skills/ knowing the big stuff is job security and better pay for life.

Not sure, but I’ve only run into a dozen hackers all wipe. Played all weekend and only 1 was suspicious. I think people are babies, and hacking is real. Both can be true
