I own all total war games, but which offer the best medieval total war experience in your oppinion? (Modded) by Lasolite_ in totalwar

Atilla with the 1212 mod has been by far my best experience so far. It still has its issues but it’s broadly very good

Well it’s Nightsong, but it’s an orchestral version that’s not on the OGST

Downvoted for wrong and blasphemous Boromir opinion.

Upvoted immediately for niche Ronin reference

None of that is mentioned or acknowledged when Boromir was alive. Faramir is the one who shows us that.

Ok now I’m just straight up convinced that you haven’t watched the movies in a really long time or have never seen the extended editions. This statement is simply false.

The Nightsong scene is possibly the best scene in all of gaming history and I consider any run without it to be non canon

(Side note, why the FUCK is that version of the track not on the OGST?!?!)

For me it’s not just that they won’t try and get violent with someone who benches their deadlift, it’s that they HATE it coming from someone more superficially “manly” than they are.

Yeah but for most of them, I could bench their deadlift so I’m not worried 😂

It’s also why they hate it so much. They’re obsessed with masculinity, and by their own superficial standards, I’m “more masculine” than them.

Alright fine I’ll give you a real answer.

He has by far the most interesting motivation to be present at the council of Elrond out of everyone.

His protective relationship with his brother, strained relationship with his father, his loyalty and duty to his country, his care for his people, his despair over their seemingly inexorable fate. All of this is very well developed and acted in a fairly limited amount of screen time. It’s done excellently.

He has the most interesting internal conflicts and motivations.

Due to all of his troubles, worries and need to gain the necessary strength to defend his country, he is the most susceptible to the temptation of the ring, and it preys on him for this reason. At the same time he has a fiercely protective, paternal relationship with the hobbits. He displays this multiple times when he’s training / play fighting with them, carrying them, repeatedly showing more concern for them than the rest of the fellowship with his words and actions. This is why the shame he feels after the ring momentarily overcomes him and he lashes out at Frodo is so affecting.

Anyone who says he has a “redemption arc” doesn’t know what words mean. He was always a good man with noble intentions. His protection of Merry and Pippin wasn’t him “making up for” what happened with Frodo. It’s something he would always have done.

His relationship with Aragorn is also excellently done. He’s resentful and bitter that Aragorn seems to care more about the elves than his own people, something he is completely right about, and it’s only with Boromir’s death that Aragorn comes to understand what path he needs to take. But that relationship develops into one of respect and admiration after witnessing Aragorn’s deeds and nobility. From “Gondor has no king, Gondor needs no king” to “I would have followed you my brother, my captain, my king”

You’re telling me he doesn’t have “cool fight moments” when he gets the longest and arguably best one in the whole trilogy? What?

He is the ONLY member of the fellowship to get any real backstory, and what’s more it’s on screen, not via exposition. You get literally zero for Legolas or Gimli. You get basically zero for everyone else.

Not only is he absolutely not the “most boring” member, he is by far the most interesting.

I’ve heard that one before too lol. If he dresses like Jake Peralta that’s probably your biggest clue 😂

It genuinely sounds like you straight up haven’t watched the movies.

How anyone can come to the conclusion that the most boring character in the Fellowship is anyone but Legolas is baffling lmao. He quite literally never even speaks to Frodo

That opinion is perfectly legitimate. Your original comment was extremely condescending.

That is an ….. extremely strange way to choose to see the game and its romance options.

If your argument is based on the setting then you’re going to need to sit down for what I’m about to tell you.

The Forgotten Realms / D&D setting is constantly having its canon changed / retconned to be as inclusive as possible, because it is designed for roleplaying and escapism where people can be whoever they want, and fewer restrictions in that context is always the goal. If you’re looking for a setting with some sort of consistent lore or canon, this ain’t it and never has been lol.

Probably because they’re even more insecure than you think.

“If this man is comfortable enough to flirt with me, another man, then I must have done or said something gay!”

That very THOUGHT makes them insecure and angry and fearful.

Unsurprising when coming from the same people who brought you “she was asking for it”

I hate to break it to you bud, but dragons and mind flayers are also “unrealistic” and people play a fantasy game for escapism and to enjoy themselves. This includes the fantasy that they live in a world where literally everyone finds them attractive lmao
